hey, so I have been flying my darkly patriotic p38 lately. are there still camps going on? I sometime fly a yak but mostly lately i fly p38. Who is in that p38 camp?
Hehe! That's the best way to improve and also in my opinion the best way to have fun in this game Didn't know I was spooky! I should use that as an alias sometimes! Thanks You just learn different ways of keeping targets in your crosshairs. I wish I could explain better or offer some specific techniques, but it's just knowing how to get your plane from point A to point B the quickest. I can say that you always lead your target unless you are on their six or going h2h. EDIT: Speaking of aliases, Handy are you craving some ice cream today or something? I suspect that was you, but I don't know for sure. Seems like a name you would have, plus I saw "Ice cream" from the #11 spot today.
I know nothing about these old planes. What is the glass part in the rear of the fuselage for? A gunner, spotter, or where Keebler sits so he will die first?
BOO! that was a gg. Not to bad on the h2hs bukki. Orion, I might have to call off our ceasefire like nelge did that one day he got 1k kills - of course that would be to catch you in #11
Frumius, No troubles, I always have more fun when there is a lethal opponent in the room. It is mind boggling how fast & deadly you guys are. Sometimes I will shoot someone down (usually a newbie) with "one bullet" (or so it appears) but I don't know how that happens (a combination of good aim & proper leading?) ... & yet you guys appear to do it all the time! Michael (Briareus)
Mozzie... nice game... you got a tremendous firepower, if you get the possibility of one nice blast I'm already dead... or I become to a sitting duck. And you are hard to downstroke, one, two blasts are not enough. But If I can avoid h2h nd get on your six without much damage, I roast you, slowly, but surely. Was a really nice game, nice training...
Thanks, GG to both of you, a lot of fun. My wife suffered thru it though since she was trying to sleep and I was laying there twisting, tossing and moving all about to try to stay out of your crosshairs! A few lessons from you and Orion have helped my h2h. Then later I got in a room with Sola and had to deal with his death spiral twist h2h technique, a whole other fish to fry me. I keep twiddling with the controller sensitivity I think I have it about right now so that I can stay steady-ish when I want but still flick into a move quickly. Bukki
Hehe! If you think that will help Muhahahaha! Just joking, I wouldn't want to slow you down trying to avoid shooting me down and all! It's time for you to taste some top10 glory after all! Of course if you ever find yourself in game with me and I am in my buzzsaw... Don't surprised if chuncks of your plane start to fall off unexpectedly! I gotta have some fun don't I? You have no idea how entertaining it is to me to watch people dance about in thier zero III's Just ask Chonch how much of a kick I get out of it! Hehe!
When I get tired of the mosquito ... Here is my next choice: The XF-85 Goblin, the smallest jet-propelled fighter ever built; a "parasite" designed to be dropped from a bomber, perform its mission and return to the mother ship. 1948. 6 on manueverability? Michael (Briareus)
Your poor wife! So Sola does the spiral h2h now too does he? Yeah that's a great one, you do that and add a bit of a wobble and you can dodge some of your opponets bullets! I thought I was the only one who did that actually! If Sola has learned how to do that too.... oh crap! Hehe! I keep my sensitivity set to about 80%. I find that at that setting I can whip the plane about really well yet still get it steady when I need to rather easily.
Sola's spiral was much more exagerated, more like he wanted to wound me then get around and behind me to finish me off rather than a full on h2h blast.
But doesn't your own spiral cause more of your own bullets to miss since you're aiming not purely at the opponent, but in a pattern in his/her general area?
I bought the Mosquito yesterday morning and have played a few games with her before switching back to the Z3 to rack up some kills. My kdr is actually higher with it than with the Zero, about 12:1 in the games I've played vs. 7-8:1 in the Zero since I purchased that three weeks ago or whenever it was. I find that I can bail out the second I get the prompt and my opponent doesn't know where to look because he assumes I've made a run for it when in reality I'm just floating there in one of his blind spots. Of the 50 bailouts I've done in the mossie I've only been caught two or three times. That's waaay better than "chonching" in the Z3. The kills definitely rack up, just A LOT slower. For the first time I'll jump on the bandwagon and say that the stats are way off for the buzzsaw, but in a good way. Speed and maneuverability are way higher, armor is spot on and firepower is 4.5 instead of 5. Either way, my experience using some of the other planes makes all the crybaby talk about the Zero having an unfair advantage seem even sillier. In the Z3 I've gotten some great competition from experienced players in FW's and Mustangs too and one of those might be my next purchase.
I might have to try the Mossie out. As for the Zero's power in this game... there is no plane that I am more effective in. That's the power of the Zero. I just wish it were the P-51 instead (I love the P-51). I play with sensitivity at 100%. When I switched to the Zero, it was an eye-opener. That thing is zippy! Prior to it my favorite was the P-51 Mustang II, which was zippy (fast and maneuverable) before the Zero III came out. The P-51 is my favorite all-time plane, but I use the Zero 3 because, in this game, I find it to be the best.
My move is technically a barrel roll with just a slight up and down or left and right occelation to it.. or "wobble". The wobble is so slight, that yes I can keep my fire concetrated on the other plane while "wobbling" in and out of it's bullet stream. So the affect is that I can take about half the damage the other guy does. That is to say when I manage to execute it 100% correctly. However that's hard to do all the time, and if you don't get the early jump on the other guy and get blasted at the beggining, or if I screw it up and wobble too much or too little then I'm going down. It's hard to explain exactly how I do it, but I have practiced it so much now it's kinda just automatic. I can only do it really well in the zero III but I can also do it in the mustang II which is the plane I first figured out how to do it in. This move is why you will see me sometimes going h2h with a Mosquito or a p-38. And sometimes just to blow the other guys mind, if it's obvious I'm going to lose the H2H, I will then try and punch the throttle on the zero III to try and ram the other guy for the draw! I do not back down from an H2H ever! The thrill of the H2H is so great to me that I will do it no matter what! The really satisfing ones are when I can get someone at full health when I'm smoking already hehe
Hehe! Funny you noticed the bailout right away. Yes you are sometimes blind to them but also it's hard for a pilot in a zero III to target you when they are zipping around so fast. Yes I was just as thrilled as I was to see that using the correct tactics, the Mosquito can be quite affective against the zero III. You do kill at a slower rate and you have to get used to moving arond at a snails pace.. but then you learn how to play sharp shooter in the thing, and it becomes really fun to take up at that point The experince also made me feel better about the zero III in general, it does have it's vunerabilitys and so I don't feel quite so "wrong" in taking it up! I like both planes for different reasons which makes things all the more fun for me! Still though I would like to see some more dogfighters that can compete with the zero III on a more level playing field. Anyway I'm glad you seem to be enjoying your new Mosquito! EDIT: Try the Mustang II first. It has excellent Yaw, which let's you do things that you can't do in a lot of the other planes. Yep experiment working with the Yaw in it
