cool, thanks shern.. without you I wouldn't know what is happening in the top10. I rarely watch it. I see Origami coming from behind. He is fast. I will duck and cover until he has passed me.
Muhahahaha! Seriously though that is one of the joys of the Mosquito. The P-38 also has the long range cannons as well. Those are the only two planes that do. It really is fun watching people do this little dance as the squirm and try and avoid me shooting them down from a distance. That and the zero III's have to slow down to down you in one of those, which they aren't going to be able to do if their are a bunch of other zero III's in a game. I feel almost invisible in the thing actually. Truth is though I like flying all the planes and adapting my stratigies accordingly. It's really fun to do I think. I like having a bunch of different planes to match what mood I am in at the moment. As far as the Zero III, I really don't think they can change it now without making a lot of people mad. I think Pandora's box has been opened now and the only thing they really can do is give us some more good dogfighters to compete with it now. Honestly I really am a Mustang II pilot at heart. I prefer how it handles better to the zero III actually because I am sensitive to a planes yaw. It has way better yaw than the zero III actually. If they just made it fast enough and gave it the acceleration and firepower to keep up with the zero III I would be overjoyed! They do need to fix the stats cause those are way misleading, but they have been for some time now. I have always looked for gold in all the planes, but I have to tell you that in the case of the zero III I was expecting gold and hit platinum instead. I love the speed as I love fast paced games. It does get old though only having one competitive dogfighter to choose from. It makes all the other dogfighters rather pointless to fly. That's what I don't like about it, things are way out of balance now.
The distance is not part of the damage equation. The damage equation goes like this: Plane2 shoot on Plane1 Damage on plane1 = Plane2 weapon type factor x Plane2 firepower factor / Plane1 armor factor. There's no distance in the equation.
I don't know Shern, I do seem to be able to blast people at longer distances than I can in any other plane. I notice that the other planes seem to have a better "shot gun" affect to them. You have to line the crosshairs up more precisely in the Mosquito. That's my perception anyway. I could be wrong about that, but I don't think so. I have tried shooting down planes from great distances with other planes and they don't do it as well as the Mosquito. The MG's on all the planes seem to have a longer range to them, but not the cannons. It seems to me that only the Mosquito and the P-38 can deliver the cannon rounds at long range like that. EDIT: What are the experiences of others on this? It could just be a matter of my perceiving things this way.
My eyes are initially trick by them. I only noticed only 1 [D] entered the room. I know he's in Z3. Then after a while, I noticed [D] is in P38. And then back to Z3 again. I was completely shocked. How did he switch plane in the middle of game? Then I check the score list and realised there are 2 [D].
Oh I had meant to ask. I ran into a [SAB]Wiex last night who shot me down a few times. Each time I let out an "ouch" which was received by silence. I left them alone because I wasn't going to go after them until I asked who they were. I see now that China Girl is now a SAB! I guess it could have been her adjusting to NOT shooting down people! Which reminds me. Welcome China Girl!
Nice to see you today Orion (in a Tempest ) BTW the 'shotgun' effect is down to the wing mounted cannons on stuff like the Zero (good for offset kills/damage) whereas the Mossie and P-38 only have nose cannons/MG thus concentrating all the firepower in one laser like place (more precise aiming needed for a clean kill). You CAN down aircraft from distance in the Mossie thats for sure whether or not its more powerful
Hehe! I know, I have been trying out different planes since Razvan and SGN have said yesterday that they will be "tweaking" them to see if they are different yet. Well the tempest still pretty much sucks as of right now. Of course I don't expect to see any changes over Easter weekend. That was my perception as well... the rounds are more concentrated in the Buzzsaws thus giving them the ability to deliver at a greater distance. Not to say they are more powerful, just more concentrated. You have to be able to aim more effectively in them though. Anyway, I'm just glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. I thought I might have been imagining things for a second there! Shern likes to play games with my head some times I think!
I got a feeling that SGN don't like me and has been reading this forum to see what I have observed about the planes and tweek them. Case1: when they introduced Hien-II, it has 4.5 stars in handling. I tried it and find it's manuverability doubtfull, just don't feel it as good as Corsair and Zero. So I timed the pitch rate and observed it's really slower consistently than the Corsair and zero. In fact it's the same timing as the spitfire. So I wrote in this forum about my finding. The next day when I woke up, I test the Hien again and this time it's pitch rate is matched to Corsair and is better than spitfire. Case2: Just after Razvan corrected the fire damage formula, I tried out the Yak3 5 stars firepower. I was totally amazed at the speed it downed each target. I felt it is equiped with lasers. Then I keep commenting about the Yak3 firepower in this forum and even strongly advice Z3 players to avoid h2h with Yak3. I even felt weaker firepower when I switch to Z3. Then few days later, I felt the firepower becomes very weak, and later Cometti's report showed indeed it's firepower has become less than Z3.
They had the coolest car in all the 70's! It was even cooler than Smoky and the Bandits car! In fact we had to wait until the 80's for KITT to dethrone it as the coolest car. Some might argue the General Lee was the coolest car, but I think the old Gran Torino was the coolest. Clint Eastwood would agree with me I think
I'm a bit late to this game I'm afraid... it's getting so much attention though that I might just have to take a look... however... Does it try to match players based on experience or would I just get destroyed by the vets as soon as I join an online game? Cheers, Jamie.
If you are new they won't hunt you down all the time.. they just kill you by passing by... welcome... what name do you have in SoG? EDIT: we could open a private room, I could teach you a while..
Not bought it yet - just considering it - but no point if I'm gonna spend all my time being fragged... And hey, just watch the sharks circling... thanks for the offer of 'training' ;-) Jamie.
Hi, badmanj you will be easily destroyed by the better players. But there are loads of inexperienced players out there as well. As mosquito said, the vets won't hunt you down, because they'll be too worried about any other vets they might know in the game. It's dangerous to let one of these other forum-posters out of my sights! So I don't go hunting newbies when they're around. But, also as Mosquito said, you'll be downed very easily by us in passing. Say I'm flying around in the game on the lookout for Origami or Chonch because I know they're in the game. I can't afford to chase you down if you're far away or out of line as I dodge this way and that, but if you pass by my sights I can get you pretty quick, particularly if you're in the stock P-40, which is slow, not powerful, and not well-armored. I recommend getting one plane with better specifications, but realize it'll take some practice. If one room is chewing you up, you have two choices: 1) Stick around and learn the hard way, which is also perhaps the fastest way to learn; or 2) go find an easier room and learn a little more slowly but perhaps with less frustration. I advise you to practice using your brakes when you turn or to slow down. Use the throttle to speed up. Turning with the brakes helps you turn much more sharply. Speed up again afterward. Dodge this way and that all the time, for flying straight makes you a real tasty snack for a vet. The idea here is to not be predictable -- change speed and direction frequently when in the fur ball (clump of fighters). Forget rockets as they will ruin your dogfight skills as you try to fly straight for long enough to line up a shot... making you one of those tasty snacks. Practice leading your targets. You have to lead more in some situations and less in others, just as you'd expect -- depends on the angles. Just practice. Don't get frustrated. It's all practice. When you want to speak during the game, touch the middle of the screen and you'll see a a bunch of canned messages that you can say to the room. Pretty nifty. Feel free to ask questions here.
i always get out about 2 before the limit and if the room shows up again (or if I remember it), I'm in again. works great especially if there's a ton of noobs to feast upon
welcome! just to add on about the rockets....I won't forgive you and will hunt you down mercilessly other than, I'll treat you like any pilot and go after you (well, except for Hazard...i laugh when I get him jk/g welcome again!
