I thought I'd start with this: Skis and Snowboards are interchange during gameplay YouTube: video This also shows off the beginnings of our character creator or 'wardrobe'. P.S. I still can't figure out how to embed youtube vids on this forum.
And I've just started working on the Yeti. He's still missing a few animations and his movements and AI are first pass. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nXF9GtrB2c
I've started working on the mountain top and also some NPC story/mission elements. Obviously all still work in progress. but not bad for a three days. It should turn out nicely.
Looks neat so far! Do you plan on the different skis and snowboards having different stats, making it a kinda skiing RPG?
Epic Ski Trip (by Rocket Jump) Really nice looking. Nice feel of mountain freedom. Try to work on animation a little bit more. Hope the gameplay is not some tricky slide thing but with virtual buttons.
A lot of the animations and in fact most of the art is still in development and is currently placeholder. We plan on doing a full pass on everything again once we have all the functionality working. Same goes for the sound and music as well. As for controls. We're keeping it simple. Basically you just drag your character around the screen. Taping the screen makes them jump or dismount a vehicle/chair/rails. To board a vehicle, chair or rail you just have to ski into it and they'll automatically jump on. Tricks are also very simple. When you're in the air, you can swipe left or right to do spins and up and down to do flips. Vehicles handle in the exact same way. There's a couple things that are currently more tricky to do than I'd like, such as coming to a stop, walking/driving up hill, making a sudden and dramatic 180 degree change in direction to move towards an object or NPC on screen. (the game doesn't know how to distinguish this from riding switch). All of these things are a work in progress and I will find solutions for them. Finally, about board and ski stats. We are planning on having a stats system. The entire motivation for the player is to collect all the costume pieces and potentially upgrade them too. We're thinking that each costume piece might have stats and by wearing them 'level up' your rider. We're not sure though if the stats should be attached to costume pieces, your rider, or both... We're still working on that part of the design.
