    Thank you.

Do you have a price for the release? Has it been submitted?

We have not decided to price yet, but we hope to submit it to Apple in early February.

I am acually really excited for this game. I don't have an iPhone but I can just take my own pictures. Do colors show up too or is it just black and white? Great idea guys!

The game will convert any image to grayscale to keep the shared games size small.

    Revolutionary concept...

    1. Will you be able to share your levels with other players?
    2. Does it detect color/can you add color?

    1. Yes, the game is all about sharing your creations with your friends and other players. You will be able to upload your own game as well as download and play new games created by your friends and other users from the Sketch Nation server.

    2. The game does not detect color in order to save space. Grayscale images compress better. Also the rest of the non-user-generated art is in grayscale (explosions, weapons, etc...) so this will help user generated content fit better.

    1. Awesome!
    2. Ok, that's fine
Another question: Would you be able to grab a screenshot from a different iPhone game, for instance, doodle jump, and use the doodle jump character as your ship?

I was wondering can you also change the type of shot your ship has?

Theoretically you can grab an image from another game and use it in your own shooter, but we will have some sort of abuse control so you will not be able to share games that contain copyrighted images with other users.

There are 5 pre-configured shot patterns for the player's ship. In the editor you can set the shot pattern the player starts out with, if at all (for a pacificist avoidance-only game.) You can also place powerups on the level that change the shot pattern fired by the player.

Currently, you will not be able to create your own shot pattern. Maybe in the future.

Also enemy and boss weapons and shot patterns are pre-configured, but you will have a variety to choose from.

Mostly server code, main-game bug fixing and tutorial work being done now. We are still hoping to have this released in early February.

Looks cool, I was going to say until I saw the end that you should definately be able to exchange your universe's... my question is..

if u take a picture or use a picture, how does it know the exact lines of your creations, w/o making a bunch of flying enemies ontop of white blocks ?? is this 100% safe from that?

The image detection algorithm should be able to correctly detect your drawing, as long as it's the only object in the photo, is drawn on a white or off-white piece of paper, and has a thick, contiguous dark border around it. Lined and graph paper are ok as long as the lines are not too dark.

    Here are two examples:
The first is of a colored drawing on a crumpled piece of paper with lots of shadows, taken in bad lighting conditions with an iPhone 2G camera. You can see that the game removed the background correctly and converted it to black and white.

The second is of a hand drawn ship, taken in the evening with room lighting, also taken with an iPhone 2G camera.

    And what with iPod Touches?
How this devices users will be able to add own creations to the game?

I have little suggestion here: there is great application of Apples called SketchBook MobileX which allows user to draw on the scren like on sheet of paper.
Maybe you could enable import images from this programm to Your game? It would be really awesome feature and solution for iTouches users!

If I understood what has been said, you will be able to import images from the Camera Roll... So you will just have to save the images from SketchBook to the Camera Roll and then you can use them ingame.
