Sorry for repeating this, but once apple creates a save backup solution the game sizes won't be an issue. It won't be a problem to delete an unfinished large game to make room for a newer large game because you'll still have your progress file for later. People are suggesting playing through games and just getting rid of them when you beat them. What if new levels come out that rely on you having already gotten to a certain point? If you deleted it you'll have to possibly start from scratch. There are times when I'd like to replay a game using all the upgrades and stats that I've earned from playing before too. Luckily most of these are small action RPGs which don't take up much space. Also a few have backup save servers. What if you upgraded everything in Infinity Blade and so you stopped playing it. Then you deleted it to be able to play another big game. If new content comes out and it's only available at higher levels then you have a lot of gameplay do go through again. If deleting an app gave you the option of keeping the save file on your device that would also work. That would still leave you with less space although you'd have much more space than if the entire game was on there. I hope bigger, prettier, and better games continue to come out and a save solution is found so we can make room for progress. Sorry to sound like a broken record. Also an sd card slot would definitely help
I couldn't agree more! I don't see file size as an issue. Plus, i own 3rd gen 64 gig bought just for gaming. I don't mind seeing file size increase. Forexample, FIFA 11 is almost a gig.but, I can already see the difference from previous FIFAs in graphics and gameplay.in order for IOS to develope to the level of PSP, then increasing file size is the way to go.
games with 500MB wld be sufficient. but then u have to sacrifice for size vs quality... well not always.. but most of the time...
I must admit I was having space issues with my 32gb iPod, but now I have a 64gb iPod so I don't think I'll fill that up anytime soon.
Why would u want it to be like psp? The idevices are more about indy games and creativity like the ds and the ds has real small sized games and are better than psp.
I see what you mean and I fully support indie deves, but I want to experience console like graphics/gameplay in my iPod touch. Currently, I don't own any console games, because I am always on the go. I indulge in indie games when I am feeling casual and kill the time if i want to enjoy graphics. I hope you get my point.
Yeah man i was about to delete N.O.VA 2 when i found out it was 1.10 gig & i deleted modern combat 2 cuz it lagged too much online & it took too much space. But im gonna get the same 64 gig itouch 5th gen.
To everyone, a universal app only carries all the files for all the devices. When it installs however, it doesn't keep files for other devices on your device. So no need to worry about extra useless files just sitting on your device taking space. When it comes to Rage, I really can't understand why the game is so huge in size for only 15 minutes of game play. Then again, maybe the Rage world is bigger than it seems but because it's on rails we simply don't notice the scope of it all.
Storage My idea before the other person post was storage. Apple make personal storage you log in and get the games you want. Easy So thats 5 million dollars for the idea from Steve Jobbs I am not greedy.
Games are already approaching psp size bear in mind the most a UMD can hold is 1.8gb and most psp games only use a few hundred mb. Makes you wonder why psp games are so much bigger really. PSP also has a lot of videos, music, useless dummy files, firmware updates and other anti piracy tricks on the disks. My opinion is developers don't really cares about the app size on IOS there isn't a physical limit like UMD space so they aren't trying to optimise things and apples lazy installs don't help.
