Actually, design wise, RDR had zero claim to originality, as the tone and aesthetic are stolen whole cloth from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (among other Leone films) and the Wild Bunch. This "Fort Mercer" that people claim is ripped off in Six Gun is actually an utterly generic structure that has appeared in countless Westerns and even the game Gun. And any horror fan would know that the gothic western (which is clearly what Six Gun is going for) is a different thing entirely from the grindhouse zombie DLC in RDR (which itself is an idea more than a little inspired by zombie mode in CoD:WW). To my eyes there's far more Jonah Hex, EC comics, and even a bit of Hammer horror.

Is Six Gun inspired by the success of RDR? Obviously. Are they borrowing elements from it? Sure, especially the open world aspect of it (though that was done before RDR by Red Dead Revolver and Gun)? Obviously. But going from what is shown on that trailer, the tone and approach are quite different, especially when compared with the outright ripoffs of the Gangstar series or Modern Combat. The Western is what critics call a "mature genre," meaning that it has a very clearly defined set of visual and narrative tropes. RDR wrapped itself around a retired-outlaw trope that had Unforgiven and Wild Bunch all over it. From what we've seen so far, Six Gun is going the Weird Western route, inserting Lovecraft and Chronos the Vampire Hunter into the mix (and taking big cues from Jonah Hex). To call Six Gun merely a ripoff of RDR is to have a very superficial understanding of both the Rockstar game and the Western genre in general.

Clearly there's a big chance that Gameloft will screw this up (and that stupid attempt at Western rap does not bode well). But I see some potential in that trailer, and the graphics and action looked like a step up. Hopefully we'll know more soon.

This game is probably open world but if it's more a 9mm type game that means we probably will get multiplayer so it's a win-win.

Well I'm pretty sure I will get this as I'm an AppStore whore, lol, but for everyone saying they copied RDR, name 1 game these days that is totally original and hasn't been influenced by other games. That's sometimes is what make a great game, nova is pretty much inspired by halo, shadow gun by gears of war, galaxy in fire 2 by x2 the threat/x3, elite, etc, also for ppl on about it looks bad, RDR doesn't have amazing graphics either

Take a look at the first trailer of Six Guns and discover a wilder west than you ever imagined...

Coming this fall to iPhone and iPad! http://j.mp/qLO4Rj

Race horses, behead baddies, hunt witches, kill monsters and wash it all down with a good beer. In the Wild West.

It would help if people would read the first post of the thread. Because this video is old... (I mean, a trailer from gameloft usually gets posted within minutes - an hour max. here)

    Looks interesting.

If its universal and has iCloud saves then I'll be all for it. I can't wait for games to start incorporating iCloud. It will make my 3GS last just a little longer by using my iPad too.

I just Got an iPhone 4 so should REALLY just s**t up but i hear you on that. But i think the iPad give a different experience with the same game, a better one thanks to the larger screen, that's my opinion ofcouse.

I'm not much for wild west zombies but if this game is open world I might just give it a shot, but hopefully the open world is more…well…open, then backstab's wannabe semi-open world. nothing bad said about that game though, it's great but hardly open world…again…that's my opinion.:)

I associate open world with games like gangsta, real free roam and no load screen between areas … that's open world to me.

Ps.i really don't mean anything bad about backstab, in fact I just started another run through, maybe I'll change my mind this time who knows

The atmosphere in this tread seems a bit tight so I feel it nesesery to say: I don't want to affend anyone.

Freemium? I don't like the look of this...why can't it be a full game ala RDR so the player can fully enjoy the wild west story?

I doubt it'll be freemium since it's too awesome to go down that path and Gameloft knows that.
If anything, there will be two versions, paid and FREE+ like what gameloft has started to do with some older games like the Oregon Trail, Backstab, etc.

i don't like the sound of this it better not be freemium. lets golf 3 freemium blows. besides the broken game play it doesn't like when your phone is replaced.

i gave it a shot. but everytime you swap a phone even when using restore on the phone. it gives an error saying that content may have been obtained illegally... and you have to start over. it happened when my iphone 4 was replaced by apple with a broken home button and when i moved to a 4s.

really looking forward to six-guns but if it has ads and costs $ to play and you are forced to play in small chunks i'm writing gameloft off.

compared to alot of other games its true... sandbox games never have amazing graphics, its a trade off you have for a sandbox game, im not saying it doesnt look good. theres just alot better games with better graphics released before, or around the same time as rdr

Sandbox's offer a vast environment that no other genre does,so a good graphical sandbox such as that of Red Dead Redemption requires enormous processing and graphical power. That is why RDR does not look as better than other graphical games, but it is the best in terms of graphics in the genre that is Sandbox.

which is exactly what i said, but not in soo many words... and i agree its a good looking sandbox game, it just doesnt look amazing, and graphics arent everything, i would rather have an ordinary game with great gameplay rather than great graphics that sucks. and now i wanna play rdr again :)

Since RDR is just gta4 with a wild west skin, I think that's more to do with a modern city rather than a dusty desert, lol
