I understand what you mean and partially agree with you. I also prefer the meatier experiences on iOS, a reason why I almost always go for premium games and dislike the freemium experiences. I'm all for intricate systems, complex gameplay and difficult mechanisms, but there are better and worse ways to implement them. I just wish for them to work well and adequately to the modern nature of mobile gaming but I do recognize that we can't always get things working the way we expect and I'm ok with that. Nothing against the developer, it wasn't me who mentioned the issues with communication. Was just trying to explain a detail that didn't make this game work for me that's all but I'm glad other people like you are able to enjoy it in its current state.

While I can definitely understand the "issue" you have here, I am wondering, what device are you using ?

I too like to be able to multitask, with my iPhone 6S+ I have literaly no problems answering a call or answering a comment on facebook, an email or whatever and going back to the game after, my game doesnt reset...

Now if i open like 3 apps on top of Siralim 2 thats another story, but at that point it means my gaming time was over and that I can still keep all i earned in the current dungeon.

Another point to me is the games very grindy nature, you will restart dungeon levels multiple times anyway, its not like you only go through levels once

Lets get the facts correct please.

The one place I forgot that I posted about this problem from the beginning was your forum as I hardly frequent it.
    That is my mistake.

You did not answer me here nor on the Steam forums when I posted about the 1.1.0 iOS patch not being released. My email to your company at the time also generated no response.
It was when I saw the post over on Steam about 1.1.1 being released on Steam and the same comment that it will be about 48hours until the iOS release that I saw red.

You have replied here today and replied to my latest email yesterday. Thankyou.

Keep up the great work dev, I love this game and your on going work and understand that it's not easy to go through all these Processes just to update your game. Everyone has different patience levels and that's just life. Game has been running great for me on my 6+ =]

One of the best QoL features implemented here is being able to move the A/B buttons above the d-pad and play entirely with one hand. Props to the dev for that.

For those lurking around here waiting for the update, I got a word from Thylacine on their forums, the reason we dont have the update yet is because apple keeps declining the update, the reason Thylacine is told that the update is declined because the game should not be asking an individual's gender.

This is one heck of a stupid case of "apple bullshit" at work... seriously...

Seems over the top even for Apple. I imagine that there's thousands of games on the App Store that let you choose this. Hoping there's more to it than this. Have been waiting for this update to hit as it's a few versions behind Steam now.

I somehow doubt that's all the truth behind this. The quantity of games in the App Store is massive with countless asking for gender identity and not once other developers have complained about it or said that Apple was rejecting their games because of this. So I genuinely doubt that this is all about "apple bullshit" as mentioned.

Very little point in a dev making up excuses about why an update's being rejected. Like you point out, the only thing hurt is the dev's reputation. Check the Siralim 1 forums, it's not like it's his first rodeo, or looks like the guy doesn't know how to do proper PR. Not to mention, it hurts sales badly if the mobile game isn't up to par with steam, update wise, because of again, what we're talking about now.

The two strongest instances of ridiculous app rejection stories I can remember were the confederate flag in civil war games causing a problem, or some war game with units that looked like chess pieces being rejected for depicting violence against soldiers, something similar. Apple markets their products to an increasingly media aware and liberal fan base, speaking generally about societal trends, not specific demographics. I don't remember there being a fuss about "lemmings" promoting cruelty to animals when it came out, or "prehitorik" being racially insensitive towards cavemen 20 years ago, in the all or nothing DOS days.

Yea, many games probably ask for your gender, but the post you mention only says why a person was told a thing was rejected for a general reason, so take it with a grain of salt, or go to the game's actual forum and ask the dev. TouchArcade, unlike some folks think, is a secondary forum, very much like steam. The post you quote doesn't exactly say what about asking for the payer's gender was the problem, because yea, Aralon type open world games on mobile devices do ask for gender for avatar purposes, so I'm sort of curios what about this game was the problem.

The war games I mentioned, and I might be dead wrong were hunted cow studio style hex games, but again, I might be wrong on the specific game, not the reason for the rigmarole that ensued.

Now I'm not trying to be apologetic, but think about the fact that this game's a product, meant to make a profit. I'm bummed about it running poorly on my device too, despite finding a workaround with the blood altar perks, but I'm pretty sure it makes no business sense for a small dev to be untruthful about why an update isn't going through. Look at the flak the hero siege people caught.

I'd be interested in hearing why you don't think apple's overly-strict submission guidelines aren't to blame here though, maybe you have a point I haven't considered.

Whatever the reason I got sick of waiting for patches for the iOS version and requested a refund from the App store stating that the refusal of Apple to accept patches and properly inform the developer why was my basis for a refund.
They must have accepted that was indeed correct as I just received my refund.
I will have to settle with the Steam version.

I'm absolutely loving this game. I have two save files and have put in almost 40 hours total. The depth is extordinary, but at times is a little daunting. However, it's definitely worth the price.

I understand that you don't like the game, but I'm a little confused as to why you continue to post in this topic with such negative remarks. It's a game. Let's move on, shall we?

I never said it's a bad game, I just made some remarks a few pages back about elements that to me reflect on a poor implementation concerning the nature and pace of mobile gaming but they were intended as constructive criticism. Actually in a following post I even mentioned that I was glad that other people don't feel that detracts from their experience and are still able to enjoy the game.

I don't think I can understand where all that passive-agressiveness is coming from. Stating that people shouldn't comment just because they dislike specific elements of a game you implemented is strange. I would even say questionable.

My previous comments on the game were just opinion and as irrelevant as what I think may be I still stated them politely, even providing reasoning to my views. Implying that I shouldn't comment just because not all my comments were praise is ridiculous.
You're right, it's just a game. Get over it.

I apologize to everyone for the frustration this lack of patching has caused. I am just as disappointed as you are about this mess, but rest assured I'm putting full effort into resolving this as soon as possible! I will write a more detailed report about what is happening soon.

Here's the latest update from Apple: https://gyazo.com/740da65b8be3e6a39b037c403d666a2c

I've changed the in-game wording when you choose your gender so as to not offend this particular intern, so with any luck, it'll pass through this time. ;)

Read your post that I quoted in my last post. I'm hardly being passive aggressive. I'm asking why anyone would take time out of their day to raise a pitchfork against someone when they know nothing about the situation at hand. Again, I am sorry you dislike the game and I certainly hope you seek a refund as I don't want anyone paying for a game they don't enjoy!

No pitchforks. I was just surprised that gender identity would be the argument for rejection on the App Store and expressed my disbelief. If that was actually the sole reason for rejection I apologize.

Just went back a few pages and can see the issue is with the save states. This is something that's usually a pet peeve of mine too when it comes to turn based games on mobile. If you look at my post history going back months, I've brought up the issue in many game threads and usually encourage the developer to implement it. This game however *does* have adequate save states imo. With the nature of the dungeons, you tend to spend most the of time redoing the current max depth and tweaking things in town (where you can save anytime) rather than unlocking new depths. Even so, you keep whatever you obtained from the dungeon anyway, so given that the way the game is played, you rarely ever lose anything from the way the game saves. Each floor is procedurally generated each time you enter too, so you won't be seeing the same things either. I guess it could theoretically be an issue when you're unlocking new depths, but again in practice most of the time is spent doing other things where it has no real implication.

Hahaha, that might be a great joke, but you might be pretty close to a truth if that's how their review process works.

The wording in the refusal is so asinine too...thanks for sharing that. Glad apple's making sure my privacy's protected from rapacious devs who want me to pick a gender for my in-game avatar.

Funny how they're ok data-mining my wifi only iPad's contacts list for their news app though, and then magically adding clear history buttons after I called them up and asked them to record me listing my Bar registration number and the promise of a class action suit. I think the pitchforks are pointed in the wrong direction....

Keep on truckin man, the game's dope.

PS: holy hypocritical asshats, I just read 5.1.1, they oughta be ashamed of themselves
