Made it! Floating joystick is alot more responsive, sometimes it glitches and gets stuck in bottom left corner which is annoying and frustrating at times as it causes huge damage due to lack of response - just stays stuck bottom left cant move up down or anywhere

I don't see much if any difference on my i5 with graphics on high. Perhaps it's the lower levels that have been worked on so more devices can play this. The water effects would be nice if they had the same textures as the pc version. Perhaps Ultra will come back in an update with some new goodies! Hope this works now for iPod touch 4 and iPhone 4 users :)

RT control changes my whole game experience, now the hardest parts are becoming
really playable without any kind of problem,
i can't see so much difference between low and high graphic detail,
in any case now it's a 5 stars game!!

Great work with the update, Sine Mora and Darius Burst have a permanent
    space on my device!

Relative Touch makes the game playable. But the floating stick gets stuck & is useless. Can play this game at last. Deleted it because of control issues but now really enjoying it.

    Something super weird just happened.

    Story mode, challenging.

Right after when the huge door opens in the factory, after the red lasers zone, I launched a secondary weapons attack and....

A HUGE PIANO FALL FROM THE CEILING DESTROYING ME.

    ????????????????

It was hilarious...too bad I didn't think to grab a screenshot.
    What's that?

Also...I completed the game in challenging but I saw no different ending...what am I doing wrong?
Must I complete the game in one go? because I'm sure I depleted all my continues and restarted from a middle stage to progress.

I believe beating the game on challenging unlocks the alternate narrative, so you have to play through again to get to the alternate ending.

The piano is one of the must stupid additions to a Shmup ever!
It's even present in arcade and high score gameplay.
It's an instant and unavoidable kill which the player have no way to see coming.

I was hoping they'd removed it in the iOS version of the game, but sadly, it remains in the game.

The ridiculous insta death by piano, the incredible small and hard to see bullets and missiles along with a way too big hitbox is the things that makes this an inferior Shmup in comparison to many other Shmups on any platform.

It's a very schizophrenic game in a way, in some ways it wants to be a western (euro) Shmup and in other ways it wants to be a bullet hell.

    IMO it excels in neither.

A good game, to be sure, but by no means a great Shmup.

    That's just my opinion.

The addition if relative touch makes it much better to control on iOS and is a clear improvement and I commend the developers on the swift implementation of it.

Just get rid of that stupid piano! Please!

Once initiated maybe, but if you notice the pickup that triggers it, you can avoid it.

If rather see them keep the piano and drop it on their fb integration, crushing it flat :p

I'm just curious, with this update and especially with the new controls will IGN change the initial review? Now the game is at least at four and a half stars.

OT - does anyone knows when Shadowrun Returns will come on iOS?

Considering their main complaint was just the controls, they should really give it more like an 8 or 9. But no, I seriously doubt they will re-review it.

On the subject of controls, playing with each method more, I'm finding the floating joystick to be my preferred method. Still feel in general that the joystick was never a big issue as I completed the game with it (despite others feeling it was impossible). I was anxious to see how the RT works and it just didn't feel right in this game. But to each their own.

Same here..I'm alternating RT mirrored and floating.
NO WAY you can pass Domus with RT IMHO.

BTW...I finally unlocked the real ending...but I have no clue on how I can see it, damn!!!!

EDIT: I'm dumb...it's not an alternate ending, it's a whole new story narration...playing it right now.
    AWESOME.

Enjoying the update but, when using RT, I can no longer fast forward through the story scenes. Anyone else experiencing this?

For some reason, now it works only if you press the upper part of the screen, to me at least.

In an attempt at fighting a two-front battle, I am sad to report that I can't recommend this title as a port, while also finding some unavoidable annoyances with the gameplay inherently.

As a port, the relative touch is passable at best, with both the joystick and floating joystick as being unacceptable. These controls have been a subject of debate since the release, and for good reason; they make the navigation tedious and overly cumbersome. Moreover, the buttons are tiny and unresponsive, to the point where looking at which button to press beforehand becomes the norm. Keeping auto-fire on is a no brainer, but this is obviously done out of necessity. The size of the play screen is a serious detriment to the enjoyment, at least on the 4S, since everything is entirely too small, text included. Even after the update, this pales in comparison to the console versions in terms of graphics. There's just no getting around how much is being lost and unfortunately, this cannot be overlooked, since the overall aesthetic presentation is the hallmark of Sine Mora. This graphical demotion, in combination with the small screen size, couples for an overall muddled visual experience.

As a game in general, the levels are extremely short and relatively boring (which is not to be confused with the slow pace of the game. A slower pacing is almost always preferred in a shooter, especially one that is horizontal). Losing power-ups by being hit is absolutely obnoxious and makes for a perpetually underpowered ship. This turns into a vicious, irritating cycle of getting hit, losing firepower, having to race around to recapture lost orbs with questionable controls that never allow you to be able to catch up with the lost orbs, rinse, repeat. This cycle also detracts from immersion, since the player is under constant stress to keep their vessel powerful at all times and can't truly enjoy all that these ships have to offer.

There is no denying the positive aspects this game appears to offer with the console version, and there's no denying that most of these drawbacks would definitely be less of an issue on the platforms this game was designed to be on. That being said, this title would have been better off not being ported to iOS to save players from a flat, awkward experience.

There's alot of sites with reviews like 2.5 or 3 / 5 stars out there. I too think it would be fair for then to rereview, but honestly, alot of it is spilt milk, most reviewers probably won't want to rereview. It's not worth their time.

It's too bad there wasn't a better beta testing for this game, all these comments in this thread are things that shmup fans like me, syntheticvoid, and sumosplash and others would point out in the first 15 minutes of play.

Anyway, I got more comments, so will keep this short.

The update overall is a great improvement. Thank you developer, for the update, and though I still want instantaneous touch (yeah a term I started with blazing star), the relative touch now is a great improvement.

I do think Toucharcade should rereview this if it hasn't, and all sites too for that matter, I know for me, I too am shifting my opinions on this game, so gonna play it some more today too.

But the boss animations are awesome. Really on ipad 4 retina, those aspects rival any console game in terms of looks.

While I'm glad that you and others are happy with the addition of RT and I am always welcome to more choices, it's an insult to say that only so-called "experts" like the names you listed are the only valid opinion.

Then how come people like myself, who I don't consider to be an "expert", had fun and got through the game with the original controls.
Sure, RT may be the preferred method but even after the update I still like the joystick better.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but if you look at other comments in this thread by the like of me, metalcastket, and Pitta, others' opinions are just as valid.
