    This is the definitive update!!

  3. I disagree, why no instantaneous touch? This is delayed touch.

Developer, can you please add instantaneous touch like cave games? The ship moves slow to the touch area and has a delay, it really would be alot better with instantaneous touch.

When we worked with the developer on Blazing star there was the same issue, this joystick delayed touch is not the best solution, instantaneous touch is.

It's called inertia. The game is balanced against maximum movement speed of your ship. It is also what gives your ship a sense of weight. If I understand correctly, what you are asking for is 1:1 movement with no limit on velocity, and that would turn this into a different game entirely. Whether or not a better game is debatable, but I just can't see it happening in this instance.

Out of curiosity, about how long is this game?

Yes, I know. What we got is like retrofitted virtual joystick touch. I was hoping for instantaneous touch, where the ship stays with your finger like cave games.

Anyway, please dev, if it can be done, but if not, then please put in icade joystick support pretty please!!!

The developers made it pretty clear way back that regardless of what control schemes were added, there was never going to be a 1:1 movement option that would let you jump from one edge of the screen to the other in 0.01 seconds, because the game simply isn't designed or balanced around that.

Anybody who thought that that's what the new control schemes were going to introduce clearly misunderstood the situation.

    Bought.

    Downloading.

Let's see what this baby can do.

EDIT: Even though I bought this, I'd still like to see some side by side screen shots or video from the previous version in comparison to the updated version, just out of curiosity.

This isn't a direct jab at you, Connector, but Appletini...unfortunately that isn't going to stop people from complaining. As soon as the devs posted that there would be alternate controls, I knew it wouldn't be the end of the complaints. I hope the developers take a stand this time, because they've been TOO nice to us.

I'm using Relative Mirrored now and I'll say that it's even better than the joystick (which again I'll say is flawless). Am I grateful it's here? No doubt. Would I have minded if it were never included? Probably not. Work with what you've got people!

Frankly I think the relative touch is brilliant. I'm not a fan of the joystick because, without lifting from the screen, it is somewhat difficult to come to a dead stop via a perfectly centered thumb over the joystick. Lift from the screen and it was, at least in fixed, a bit distracting when placing it back down and getting "lurched" suddenly towards whichever touch region of the joystick you land on. Dead center was not often the case.

With relative touch it is balanced nicely, not allowing instantaneous movement, thus breaking the game, but at the same time delivering the response I desired from overall control of my movement.

Simply put, I like my ship stopping and starting as my thumbs movement does the same. I never expected nor wanted "Instantaneous Movement" and I am deeply glad they implemented this control option. A+ on listening to your players and fans.

I have some seriously mixed feelings about this title, to the point where I'd be lying if I said I am enjoying myself. That is not to say this isn't a good game, but I am finding this to be an utterly awkward experience, and I can guarantee a lot of this has to do with trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

Relative mirrored is perfect - even though I did actually like the virtual stick once I spent some time with it, but relative mirrored works beautifully for me.
Great work - probably my favourite iOS title. Would just love Game Centre to compare scores.

    Awesome update.
    Just....awesome.

    Graphics is even better.
    Awesome work really.
Trying to decide if I prefer relative or floating controls, given the fixed ship speed.

    Hands down the best shooter.

Agreed - I'm properly enjoying Arcade mode now which I just found a little too tricky with the joystick. Bl**dy brilliant through and through.

Oh yeah, whoever mentioned the garbage chute bit earlier on...whether it was the tweak to that part in particular or just the relative controls, I did it the very first time trying today. Relative touch certainly doesn't make it harder than the joystick.

Hands down, my favorite shmup ever.

Updated the game, and FINALLY passed the garbage chute area. Relative controls FTW! Also of note, the "high" graphics thing: i noticed more effects like smoke, etc

Relative Touch completely changes the game, Impossible difficulty actually seems playable now.

Am not very skilled at these types of games but the update has made it very playable for me,the speed at which these talented developers produce these updates shows the very best side of ios gaming.
