Just completed another play through of the story mode in normal (took me 3 hours!!!) and managed to get a 54 millions score. What an amazing game....you really appreciate the story bits after the first play through!!! I did so because I'm really curious now how much I could improve with RT controls. Amazingly, I managed to pass Domus at first try (Palladion hammered me tought). Can't wait for the update. (Incidentally, I'll probably never regain proper fingers functionality again).
I'm not sure what's going on with these scores. I haven't even managed to get past the ****ing rubbish/garbage chute sequence (near the start of Chapter 2) and I have a 58 million score that is showing as 13th on the Story leaderboard, out of 1688 scores. All I can think is that I've replayed the early sections so much that I've become good at them, although I know I haven't because the best rank I've ever achieved has been C. I really cannot wait to try out relative touch, which is always my preferred control method for shooters on iOS.
I would like this to be confirmed to whether icade support will happen from the dev if possible, would make for a GREAT joystick game.
So, what is the verdict gentlemen? Improved graphics? Better controls? *hand hovering over buy button*
Ok played for about 10 minutes. The floating stick is my favorite of the control schemes. Relative touch is implemented and works just as you would expect, but it's almost impossible to navigate through the garbage tunnels. The floating stick works flawlessly and really is a breath of fresh air. I guess the dev new what he was doing by not incorporating relative touch from the get go.
Cool, so there is at least one solid control option. How do the graphics look compared to before? Any closer to console?
Only tried it on my 4S so far. They nailed the (RT) controls, the graphics look more vibrant, and I did not experience any frame rate hiccups from initial 5 minutes or so of trying it out. Dare I say it, it no longer feels like I am playing an obviously inferior version. Feel free to jump in.
Updated. Controls still suck (I'm a Cave kind of guy) and text is damn near unreadable and after seeing gfx benchmarks between Vita and iPads 2, 3 and 4, gfx could be a lot better, especially on newer devices that actually outperform the original. (iPad 4 outperforms Vita's gfx chipset). It's SUCH a shame to see this go so bad. Sine More on iOS could have been THE definitive shooter on the platform. The port has so much potential.
I tried out all the control schemes..All versions works well...It's just a matter of what your comfortable with so test away...For me its the RT tough I find it to be a less immersive experience.. The enhanced effects are really noticeable, especially the particles..Im running this game on high for quite awhile now and there's been no hiccups or frame rate drops... This is as good as it gets ladies and gentlemen...Best shmup on iOS imo...
Well, not to offend anyone who wanted the RT option, I'm glad it's there for those who want it. But at this point, after using RT, I still think one of the joystick options works the best. I think one reason why I don't like the RT compared to other shmups on iOS is because there are portions of the game where you are not scrolling. This makes it harder to move back and forth on all areas of the screen with RT because if you go to far ahead you kind of have to keep swiping back, which seems awkward to me. Believe me I love RT in almost ever other shmup on iOS. I guess it just doesn't quite fit for me here. But that also maybe because I got used to the joystick and thought it was pretty precise as it was. Regardless of what control method you prefer, I still would put this as my favorite shmup on iOS. The more options, the better and glad the devs took the time to listen to feedback. Great game. Great devs.
