SpaceTripper isn't autoscrolling so RT would be difficult if not impossible to implement. There's no reason they wouldn't work in Sine Mora.
YES!!!!! Vastly improved graphics?!?! You will have my 6 dollars and a glowing review in the very near future.
THIS is the kind of developer response that makes me proud to be a part of this damn forum and proud to be a part of iOS gaming.
Relative touch finally! Still, that is an OPTION. If you don't wanna use it, you can use the other control types. My 3 star rating went up to 4. The 5th star will be Game Center
Great! Now I can finally play the game comfortable. Despite the apparent joy some found in playing with the joystick, I absolutely hated it. I'm so glad RT was implemented, and so fast too. Thank you. I wasn't going to vote in this weeks poll, but Sine Mora gets my vote for GOTW now.
Fan-f-ing-TASTIC! I will gladly put up with longer loading to have more of that console look. That is a no brainer. I was going to ask SPECIFICALLY about the water! Heck, if it looks better, than I extend a handshake. It is awesome that you have read the feedback and addressed it. Best news I've heard in, um, a really long time No more holding back on the buy button. This was the hardest I've EVER refrained from buying a game. Ever.
So,I only hope those who are on the fence will get on board now..The reason I wanted/wished this game for the platform is for its undeniable quality..One of the best shmups I have played,if not the best on any platform... Btw if you want to talk about difficulty,I played this on a keyboard,haha.. Now if only we can get ether vapor remaster..
But people have different views, disrespecting them as 'hissy fits' is out of order. Same for Space Tripper, having tilt on a game like that was very bold as practically every other shooter has standard controls. I thought the game hadnt sold well so they then added alt controls. I want this game to do well, with alt controls it should do better. I dont know why Metalcasket over and over is defending the controls so much, why does he want just 'one' control scheme ? Its like hes upset the dev has listened to the MAJORITY. No one was that upset, we just prefer alt controls and the devs listened and it seems more purchases are coming his way. Nothing wrong with that. So all because he found the controls fine all of us have to and cant disagree ? Pathetic. There wasnt any crazy backlash like Older Brothers got, people were just disappointed there wasnt alt controls. As a purchaser of many iOS games i've got a right to say whether i like certain aspects or not, if i'm not allowed to do that we might as well close down the forum and close down the comments on the App store etc as our opinion isnt right and we have to listen to one person !
You have way more than a handful of posts about retro games, and how they used to be, and how "children" shouldn't make fun of those games because of this and that. My point? We grew up in an era where you bought a game and played it. If the controls were rubbish, that was it. You either sucked it up or played the game and tried to enjoy it the way it was. There were no updates. There was no developer interaction. With a control scheme that works just as well as that of Sine Mora it pisses me off beyond belief that people weren't willing to give them a chance. Even if they did and could play the game, it wasn't enough...they just haaaaaaaad to sneak in a "but alternate controls would be good" comment. We're blessed to have developers as awesome as these guys, but come on...dismissing a game because of a control scheme that you don't like (albeit one that, according to every single ****ing iOS review out there, works) is "out of order" and "pathetic".
Isn't that the truth. That's what put hair on our nuts, too, battling not only the game but the controls. The developer interaction is just a ridiculously awesome plus. This new 'internet' thingie has changed a lot of sh|t.
To be fair, all but one review I've read was liking the game, but wishing for relative touch. I find this game to be very hard, even with a dedicated controller on the Xbox 360, and I hated the joystick control system on iOS. I bought the game but haven't been able to enjoy it at all, when the update is approved by Apple, I'll finally be able to play and enjoy the game. I did give the controls a chance, but it didn't improve my enjoyment of the game, unfortunately. It's great that you and the handful of other posters here liked the joystick controls, but that doesn't mean that it is ideal, especially from the developers point of view, they want to sell more copies of the game, and when 90 % of reviews mentions the lack of relative touch controls, they might loose some sales, which would be a shame, because it's an excellent port otherwise.
Perhaps you should remember that the next time someone asks whether a game has Game Center, or achievements or whatnot. I've seen you put countless people on here down just for asking a simple question, with your "holier than thou" attitude. It's really become quite tedious every time I see it. Oh, and pathetic, too.
If you were to give a rough estimate, maybe in terms of percentage, how much closer is this to looking like the console versions with the optimizations? 20% 30% More?
Wow, this thread has gotten a little out of hand. Yeah, I'm glad some who were dead set against this needing relative touch will give the game a chance now. But I also agree with MC that the current controls work. I do think - even reviewers - have gotten used to RT controls for shmups on iOS. It is the predominant method on the system. Yet, I still think it put an unwarranted bias against the game. I am far from a shmup expert. I love the games, but suck enough at them that you'll never see me even close to the top of the leaderboards. RT generally makes these games easier to play. But somehow I found the joystick in this game very much usable. I navigated through the game's toughest portions without even questioning the controls. Made it through the garbage chute in my 2nd attempt! Anyway, I'll see if RT makes that big of a difference. Just still think people's positions were largely based on other iOS games. That said everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I hope the update only helps grow its' audience. To me, even in its current state, it's the best if its kind on iOS. And, as I've mentioned before, a candidate for GoTY IMO.
