Actually, ironically this was the main reason I decided to pick this up: I rarely have the time to devote to the 360 these days and don't own a Vita at the moment. I was even prepared for it to be graphically inferior so didn't come into it with unrealistic expectations. In the end though, the experience as a whole felt flat. In any case, my point is it's not that I'm unaware of the convenience of iOS gaming, or unfamiliar with feeling like "if it's on my iPad/iPhone, I'll actually play it". It's just that on a case by case basis, in this instance I was disappointed.
What am I supposed to do in the third world (chapter 2?) inside the factory, after you 'enter' the garbage tunnel? Am I supposed to navigate through the narrow tunnels 'covered' by the garbage to avoid lasers? Because if so, it's freaking difficult. Btw I'm loving the game....controls are always improvable but I'm really enjoying the game (I really wish they would implement iCloud sync and Gamecenter tough). I just had a re-run at Darius Burst (which I LOVED last year) but even if it's freaking fast and relative controls are close to perfection....it pales besides sine mora....in backgrounds, patterns, bullets, bosses... My perception must be aging...because I really cannot complain about fluidity on iPad 3. Last....I've no doubt you can find systems where graphics is better....still it's hands down one of the best looking games on iOS. The selected screenshot for comparison is probably the worst looking part of the game (due to sea).
++++1 on this. Ok. It may not be as "great" as the other versions. But I don't get why people are acting like this is a horrible port. They even warn against using a 4S and I think it plays and looks beautiful. Yes, for iOS, I do like relative touch. But the joystick works fine. And stuttering? I certainly don't notice anything on my "lower end" device. The screen shakes, from what I can tell on purpose, when there's explosions near you. But frankly, this could end up being my favorite horizontal shmup on the system and a bargain for the price. Just my humble opinion. And, for what it's worth, I love Dariusburst SP, but this game has a lot more atmosphere that sucks you in.
For the first six months I owned a Vita I carried in my bag everyday. During that time I played it maybe twice. The fact is that when I had 15-30 mins available I'd rather play on my iPhone or iPad (both of which I use for work anyway). As I walk 2 miles in my commute, it felt silly carrying an extra pound + of useless electronics. These days the Vita lives in my living room, where it mostly collects dust -- the last game I put a lot of time to was Persona 4. More to the point, I simply disagree that the controls are janky. I find my accuracy to be fairly close to what I get from the Vita version. Then again, I'm not a big fan of the Vita joystick, so perhaps that's not saying much. BTW I own and play all the Cave shooters on iOS. There's no question that relative controls are the most accurate way to control a bullet hell shmup (more accurate than a real joystick for me). But I don't play Sine Mora for the same reason I play DDP. I play Sine Mora like an action adventure game: for the story, art direction, and atmosphere. I rather see more of the screen, even if the controls are somewhat less accurate.
That's fair enough. I do have to say, compared to the glory that is Limbo, this port does leave something to be desired. I'm still having a blast with it, though.
Well I think the port is pretty good. I love the way the controls are done because it's not easy for that type of game and with the special gameplay elements that Sine Mora features it was an even harder task. It's still a very good, at times unforgiving Shoot them up that has a mix of japanese and western influence with that Suda51 crazyness. The story is sometimes hard to follow, especially if you play in short bursts but the real core of the game makes up for it. It's true though that no game center/icade or icloud integration is a bit weird but nothing that bothers me directly and it can be added via future updates.
Haha. You caught me. I've been posting on these forums for years in complete disguise and you all never knew it. But on a serious note. This game is incredible. Never played the Xbox version. Not sure why. The controls could use a little work but definitely not a deal breaker. Really gonna enjoy this and the 315 MB size was very pleasing when I installed. Great port in my opinion.
I'll tell you one thing: all the stressing and going back and forth isn't worth it for six bucks. And you will buy it anyway in the end. I know these things when I see them.
Highest setting on iOS is equal to arcade. At least for Bug Princess 2. EDIT: Also most of these types of games have rank that's easily adjusted for lower bullet density. So "redone" isn't really accurate. For difficulty FOR ME - like two steps forward two steps back. You can completely avoid patterns that you would have had to weave through but my finger gets sweaty and catches lol FOR SHOOTER ENTHUSIASTS - just easier. Guys post about beating the game on first or second try. I think I agreed with the main point you were making, tho. Just wanted to quibble that bit.
I want to cry. But first throw my iPad across the street. I mean, it's covered with AppleCare + so it's only $50, right? Ffffgffggff!! The garbage chute section is so infuriating that I want to cry. And knowing there's not a major save point until after the papa whatever thing is equally depressing. Having to start the chapter after failing over and over and over and over is crushing my soul. Anyone want to take my iPad and pass that for me? Devs, please. I'm on "beginner" mode and it's still so hard! Like beyond hard. Anyone with me?
I FEEL LIKE THAT SOMETIMES! Like 'am I going to have to post on Craigslist looking for someone to clear this part for me?' Hang in there ASIG!
Hahah. I've had a few times where I let a good friend have my Xbox account and cloud saves to improve minecraft, but this... Ugh this.
What I might be doing is buying a console to play the games that were built for consoles and play the games built for iOS from the ground up on my phone. It's the only definitive way to get the most out of each game.
I'm literally SHAKING RIGJT NOW oh. My. Freaking freaking. FREAKJNG FREAKISN UGH. So that was hard. And I was on normal (aka "for beginners"). W. T. F. F. But I did it!! I need a cheat code people!! I don't expect this will get any easier. Oy.
Eh. I couldn't wait. Just spent a very long time restarting and restarting and restarting. Got through it with 8 continues.
A lil bit disappointed about the dumb down graphics(letterbox, effect, lighting, etc) on ios. I think ill stick with my vita version.
