So... would it be possible for you to (in detail) tell us how much progress has been complete? Btw, Love the tree! ;]
Glad to hear a game like this is coming. Can I make a few suggestions from my Pokemon Experience: 1. Keep Balance in Mind GameFreak just releases new Pokemon every edition with an eye towards what's cool, not what's balanced or will have an effect on the competitive scene. That's forced the player base to have to make those calls for themselves and create tiering. Not every Pet has to be able to take down every other Pet one on one, and there can (and should) be pets that are better than the rest. However, don't create a Kyogre, Mew-Two, or Arceus. Completely over the top Pets detract from the fun. 2. Big Overall Movepool, Small Monster Move Pool, Limited Move slots One of the things that makes Pokemon work is that each Pokemon is set apart by what they can and can not learn, even more than their type. A large over all movepool gives you room to create a lot of Pets, while a limited movepool for a Pet (Max 15-20 learned Moves) and a limited Move Slot (Max 3-5) means that each Pet will be different, and each Pet will have a lot of diverse strategies. Consider balancing Move Pool and Stat lines. 3. Eye on the Team Size Make sure that you can have enough Pets on your person for variety, but not enough to really bog down a challenge. Pokemon's party limit of 6 is arguably too big for competitive play, while 1-2 would be small and quite boring. 4 or 5 would be a good number to make a balanced team. 4. Increase the Pet Pool slowly. If possible don't release too many different Pets too quick. Be willing to be agressive to release updates to bring out of whack Pets back in line. Consider using 3.0's in game purchase option to allow players to travel to new geographical areas as a way to slowly expand your pet pool over time. 5. Incorporate Trading Pokemon's success comes from the social aspect of battling and trading. You really need this in a game like we're talking about. Looking forward to what comes along. Let me know if you need Pet ideas or beta testers.
It'd be cool if you could tone down the cartoonish side of the style of pokemon games. I'm not saying completely get rid of it, just tone it down. Consider a more mainstream approach to character and thematic design. You might appeal to an even broader audience that way, and it would differentiate your game from pokemon even more.
hey guys, i just made an account and i have been reading about the game you are working on and it sounds great! i think the chair and the tree look cool also
Looks great! I'm not a big fan of pokemon, but it looks like a insta-buy. A good name would be... Elemonsters... i dont know. :/
Oh and also if you need any more beta testers you can count me in! And if you are going to do the thing when you beat a gym leader you change what pokemon catches more pokemon, I was thinking instead of that, the pokemon that has that ability can have the ability upgraded or something like that so you can catch stronger pokemon. Anyone like?
I was acually just thinking about why there hasnt been a port or a game similar to pokemon on the ipod touch or iphone yet. It would be really cool if you get this going, i'd be interested for sure.
Hes saying that they couldn't make a port of pokemon because pokemon is copyrighted by nintendo, and nintendo only makes games for its own platforms.
Some of you mentioned some things about less than 6 pokemon and stuff like that, and we are going to try to balance out the gameplay while also simplifying the game for an easier pick up and play experience, while still being fun for extended lengths of time. Thanks for your input. Since you guys have been posting a lot this weekend, here's a couch so you can rest your bums from all the posting.
If you want some insperation take a look at Zenonia it's got the 2D/3D graphics and the whole game is kinda like pokemon apart from the battles and stuff but if you make it like Zenonia I will be happy
The graphics on Zenonia were good, but I didn't really like the battle system... By the way, nice couch lol. Keep it up!!!
