that sounds like a good idea, but it might be hard to anticipate exactly how many updates will happen...
Well I looked on Twitter and it seems that the battle system is on hold thanks to MAJOR tile problems! But I know that it will blow over soon we just gotta get excited...
I'm very excited. With all of these new games coming out I want, I'll need to get an extended battery case soon.
Speaking of tiles, I thought I'd give you a guys another sneak peek. Here's something that only two people have seen, so you guys are in for a treat. Here is a WOOD TILE from the game!!!!!!!!!
I can guess the answer to this, but do you have anything planned in terms of something like EV training, or anything of that nature (no pun intended)?
Keep it simple I would say, don't include breeding at all. iPhone/iPod Touch gaming just isn't designed for overly complex games. Keep the core of Pokemon games, but don't include more than you need. Most of the market is casual players, and don't forget them. Of course, it's all up to you.
EV Training in the Pokemon game is almost abuse of a mechanic. It was implemented to give Pokemon varying stats, but certain players decided to find out the cause of the stat chanegs and discovered EV training. Through extensive research, they found every Pokemon's EV benefits and how to train them to full potential. A system to implement varying stats is definately a plus to the game, but whether the EV system should be used... I'd say no.
We haven't finalized any of the gameplay/battle systems yet since we are early in the process, but have a few different ideas we want to test out. We probably won't be including anything like EV training or breeding, at least at first. I believe, like ikemike said, that games on the iPhone should not be too incredibly complex. I also prefer the earlier Pokemon games that didn't have a lot of the other doodads like breeding, berries, etc. I know some people like those, so maybe we could add fun things and make it more complex as we go along, but I think a strong basic type of battle system and a fun story can go a long way. But we will try to put a bit more in as well to make it deeper and more complex for the non-casual gamers. That's my goal, anyway.
Well all I'm really looking for is some kind of strategy in the game, so as long as I can build some sort of unique team I'm just fine. I didn't necessarily want EV training specifically (I hate doing it anyway ), but I just wanted to know exactly how 'deep' you wanted the whole training and combat to be. Thanks for the quick replies.
I know what it is I have done some EV training recently, I am just saying that that would be a lot of work for something hardly noticeable. IMO at least.
Oh wow! Left 4 a week came back and 20 something pages Can somebody bring me up to speed on what the status of the project is?
Rats I was kind of looking forward to EV training. It gave the feeling of accomplishment when your pkm got bigger but don't you think anything with a story line might shy casual gamers away? Theyd have to follow the story to know what to do next. So it got me thinking that if you put in a coliseum like system where you can pick some randomly selected pkm and battled (where it would be a whole lot easier to pick up and play) and also have an adventure mode for the more in-depth players it might solve your problem. Also it would probably take some time to figure out but you could use the coliseum for online fights as well. P.S. I would put them in the same app just so ppl dont get confused
