Thank you guys for all your warm comments! I'm really glad you like the game and the art style. There are more elements in later levels, but even if they look similar, each level is unique. Each one was designed as a puzzle and you have to combine different moves and be creative to get through unnoticed. Chapperz, right now the only way to jump is by shaking the device, but really the word "shake" is perhaps too strong, just a quick light tilt is enough. It seems too hard on the video, but that's because of the way we recorded it which made it a bit difficult to move the device. We'll try to put up a new video in a couple of days that shows the controls more accurately. Having said that, we're listening to everything players have to say and we'll definitely include an alternate way to jump if there's enough demand for it. Really? Well, they're definitely non-standard, so I hope you'll give them a chance... We worked hard to design a control scheme that was both usable and fun. Having quite a few different ways to interact (tapping quickly to move, shaking to jump, swiping to attack, etc.) makes Silent Swords much more dynamic than, for instance, using some sort of virtual gamepad. Our testers were really surprised at the controls on their frist approach and got used to them instantly. I'm sure you'll like them too if you try them Again, we're open to suggestions and we'll do our best to include any modifications gamers ask for. Keep your comments coming! And if you'd like to find out more about the game's story, remember to check out the comicbook pages we're uploading: http://www.silentswords.com/?cat=8
ok just some more things. how about just single tap to jump option? even if i was not better it would be nice to have the option. and may i ask how long the game may take to complete? is there chance of a level creator? it would be nice to have it but it's obviously not compulsary. after all the quality of apps these days are amazing considering how much we pay.
Chapperz, We'll keep your suggestions about the jump controls in mind. There won't be a level editor, but you'll be able to design your own levels and submit them through www.communitylevel.com. You'll just have to post an picture of your level (it can be a photograph or a scan of a drawing on paper, you can edit it in Photoshop... whatever you prefer) and a short description on how to get through it. If we get a lot of interest in building custom levels, we'll consider making a free standalone editor app, but I can't promise anything.
Updated original post with Youtube video and some screenshots. All the intro comicbook pages are up. Check them out: http://www.silentswords.com/?cat=8
If this is anything like Nitrome(best games on the internet ever) game Final Ninja, i will definetly be looking into this.
Silent Swords promo codes contest! Hey, guys, thanks for your comments! We're still waiting for Apple to approve Silent Swords. Meanwhile, if you'd like to win a promo code, you can enter the contest in this thread: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=23428 I hope you have fun with the contest!
I haven't played it on the GBA, but Splinter Cell was definetly one of the main inspirations behind our game. If you like SC, I'm sure you're gonna love Silent Swords! BTW, the promo codes contest is still open (http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=23428). If we reach at least 10 more entries, we'll pick one extra random winner! Don't miss your chance!
The squat little dudes in green look cool. The realistic backgrounds with the cartoon-y guys is certainly eye catching.
Hmmmm I'm not really feeling it for the Flick to jump thing it would be better if you have a Jump button not Flivk to jump mainly because it could somehow get in the way but please add a jumping button but don't take away the swipe to attack it looks epic
New video Hi, guys! Again, thanks for all your comments! Check out the new video!!!! Hopefully, you'll get a better idea of what the game feels like with this one. We changed the way we filmed it so that it looks better. (It's really hard getting a good video as the game has so much contrast between the light and dark parts...) You'll see that the shake-to-jump doesn't seem so hard in this video. Enjoy and leave your comments! [hqyoutube]ROX2BTkSFts[/hqyoutube]
Yeah I kinda agree. Just give us the option of a jump button. And also, do you have to tap on the left and right buttons or can you hold them down to run? I just think in the video all the extreme tapping to move left and right didn't look... fluid. But I really like how it looks so far, and I'm gonna keep an eye on this. Looks SWEET!
Thanks for your comments, Hitch! We'll probably include another jump option in an update. But we want to hear what you all think after testing it, it's quite a different experience than watching it on the video. You have to tap repeatedly to walk, that way you can control how fast you move, which is important for the game's gamplay.
No beta testers needed right now, mebeswordguy, but thanks for the offer. And I'm glad you like the game! Hopefully it'll be approved soon (fingers crossed).
Yes, it's been submitted. But it's taking longer than we expected to get approved... Oh, sorry, I thought you were interested in being a betatester yourself. Nevermind.
