Man this game is a lot to take in but wow. You can see why it took 4 years of work. The attention to detail is absolutely amazing. This is truly a PC game on my phone. It's complex. But fun. Thank you devs. This is exactly what I thought it would be. It's more than worth it's price. Way more. There's so much I want to talk about but I don't know where to start. I think I'm going to write it all down first and put it together coherently and then post it all for discussion. The game and your work deserve that. Billy
Bought it, really like it, just left a positive review in the App Store. Looking forward to the updates! Thank you for this labor of love!
After-action report, continued Work and life conspired to keep me away from the conn for a couple of days. Here's how that encounter ended... Trying to keep up with the capital ship convoy while submerged in daylight had done a number on my batteries...I was down to 10% when the destroyer turned back for me. It kept circling over me and I kept trying to maneuver away under silent running (1/3 speed) until I was down to 2% battery, so I went with a desperation move and fired a couple of torpedoes at it. Those gave away my position and the destroyer came straight overhead and finished me off with depth charges. I'm very impressed. The AI performed as well as that I've seen in PC-based sub sims. Reading the developer's posts, I'm looking very forward to the updates. Meanwhile, it's back out on another patrol for me... Regards, Cap'n Fringle
I second that! It's fantastic to read you can write very well. Please continue with your reports, would love to hear how it continues.
Update is live! The first update is live on the app store right now. No more circling ships and wasted torpedoes! Remember to update your reviews on the App Store; every update wipes the reviews. Run deep; run silent.
I'm still hoping someone might share some impressions as to how this plays on a 4.7" screen, though I suppose I may just pick it up either way in the near future. It just looks too good to miss.
I haven't measured the screen, but it's perfectly playable on my 6s+. I do prefer playing on my iPad, though.
The 6s+ is 5.5 inch. I've tried it on my iPhone 7 and it is playable. However the controls are quite small. I've since deleted it from my iPhone and just play it on my iPad Pro.
Been patiently awaiting this! I loved Silent Hunter series on PC and haven't played a good Submarine Sim since. I'm really excited by all the highly detailed and enthusiastic praise going on in this thread and I'm convinced to drop my $8 bones on this gem! Thank you for making this a highly replayable premium game and for all of the great additional features already mentioned down the line! I don't hesitate paying asking price when a dev really shows love for their work and is this interactive with the community. Hasn't steered me wrong yet. I wish you many more sales and I'm telling all my old sea-dog buddies from back in the Annapolis days to pick this up for a little mobile D.B.F. tactics
Thanks for you kind words! Actually a tablet would be the best for this kind of game. We tried to make the controls as large as possible without hiding too much. There's always a trade off! Still very happy about your honest feedback guys! I know it's not perfect but your feedback is absolutely motivating and keeps us busy for quite a while probably.
I follow that advice so much that I usually run empty, too >_< I guess there's a lesson to be learnt on how to tell when you're not going to last the hiding game.
Update 1.0.2 is out! What's New v.1.0.2 fixed: torpedo count which could become negative fixed: battery was not charged in overview map changed: blurry font in system view changed: deck gun is set back to initial position when diving
Still get some blurry font in system view (torpedo count and hull percentage). I'm on an iPad Pro and iOS 9.3.2. Do any of the merchant ships have turrets?
God I wish someone would port the war sim called Harpoon, there is this one http://www.matrixgames.com/products/323/details/Harpoon.3.-.Advanced.Naval.Warfare But this one might port the best. http://www.matrixgames.com/products/392/details/Larry.Bond's.Harpoon.-.Ultimate.Edition I would love any dev for life if they did this.
Surfaced near a battleship after I was depth charged to near death. The destroyers had stuffed of and left the battleship behind (I had torpedoed the battleship earlier). Two things, the battleship didn't shoot at me and it doesn't appear that we get any sort of flooding? My hull was down to 30% and I had all sorts of damage but no flooding. One other thing the torpedoes don't appear to reload all the time (I did have spare torpedoes). This is on medium difficulty.
Minor Issues Still playing this daily and appreciate the updates. I just wanted to raise a few things I've discovered (iPad Air2). 1. Sometimes my torpedoes (green dots) don't appear on the overhead map. 2. When in time compression mode above 4x, the game will drop it to 4x whenever I am spotted. Is this intentional? It lets me know I've been spotted when I otherwise would not have. Just wondering if this is intentional or not (or a limitation of the game's coding). 3. Every enemy submarine I have seen has been surfaced. Do the enemy submarines ever submerge? 4. While at the home dock, sometimes my ship will collide with something and I'll get the message saying we've collided with something but no damage was done. Is my crew that inept? That's all for now. Thanks and keep the updates coming!
Ran into a battleship escorted by something that looked like a light cruiser but was called "ship". The "ship" didn't show on the local map, didn't show any speed but was keeping perfect formation with the battleship. Oh and it appeared to be lying on its side while keeping formation. When I killed the battleship and the ship and went to the battle summary it reported I had sunk both but missed two other "ships". This battle was also similar to my other post in that I sunk these ships on the surface and wasn't shot at.
Thanks guys for your fantastic and very valuable feedback! Much appreciated! @CrayonWarrior: Merchants don't have turrets (yet). And yes, battleships don't attack you (yet). Thanks for letting me know, this was intentional indeed. About that "ship": You've spotted a bug there! Thanks. Will try to tackle that down! Do you remember what you've done prior to that? @War Vet: 1) Hmm... actually they should only appear in the tactical (detail) map. 2) That's intentional indeed. When spotted by an enemy or when torpedoes are on the way, max time compression is limited to 4x. 3) No enemy submarines do not submerge. Actually in history (rare) battles between submarines where always done surfaced. 4) Haha, well, maybe they were drunk! You should ration the alcohol you give out to them! No just kidding, will check that. You were just at the dock and did not move at all? Cheers!
