What is the max range for torpedoes and the deck gun? I didn't see it in the game manual. Is this somehow indicated while playing the game?
I am very tempted. I played Silent Hunter 3 as well as Silent Service back on C64. Is your sub customisable? Different torpedoes like in SH3?
I think the manual said the torpedo targeting is accurate up to 1500 yards. It doesn't say their max travel range though. Not sure about the deck gun.
Can you aquire later-generation (but still WW2) torps? Such as pattern-following torpedoes and/or magnetically detonated ones?
Another question: I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to sub sims, so I have a general question about firing torpedoes...Do they shoot directly straight out of the sub or will they angle towards the target if it has the green arrow? The reason I ask is because I thought they shot directly straight, but I've noticed that doesn't appear to be the case when using the binoculars (they appear to come out at an angle), which could be a visual glitch or that's how the aiming works? Thanks!
@Greyskull: At the moment there is only one torpedo type but we have that on our list. @jeffy777: If you have a green arrow below your target there is a fire solution so yes, the torpedo will angle towards the target. Not immediately of course. There are limitations, you cannot fire when the angle of the bow to the target for instance exceeds 90°, well technically you can but there won't be a solution then.
Thank you! Good to know my eyes weren't betraying me. This game is so awesome. Keep up the good work. I'm very excited to see what's in store for future updates.
Cool to see the devs are also starting to post gameplay tips on their Facebook page too. Stuff like this will be very helpful for learning the ropes. Much appreciated. Hoping in the future to see an in-game manual in addition to the one on your website, and eventually more of a tutorial. I think this will help get more positive reviews too since casual players will have an easier time falling in love with the game.
Thanks for the info! I'll be sure to pick this up once I have the funds...I've just been assessed 5600 bucks for a new roof :/ (It isn't more because I own a condo)
Our first update will be soon available (waits for review in app store)! We've added night vision versions of TBT and periscope, fixed a nasty bug with circling ships in time compression mode... The gun crosshair is now accurate (and better visible) for a distance of 500yd. When you are closer, aim deeper and vice versa! The time compression buttons are a bit larger which should make it easier to hit them. Cheers!
Greetings! Greetings Xaron, I want to personally let you know that I will be happily buying your game; you've put passion into your work, and I will gladly pay for my first true submarine simulator experience on iOS! I too, am looking forward to the future optimizations and updates! Thank you very much!
Absolutely loving the game so far. Going to be tired tomorrow morning for sure Technical question: shouldn't running my diesels on the surface charge my batteries? Right now it doesn't seem to
@CrayonWarrior: No they don't have random weights. @jeffy: Thanks for your honest review, too! @O'Doyle: Thank you! Yes your diesels should charge the batteries but this is a slow process actually. The batteries are about 10 times faster discharged than charged.
Batteries - The struggle is real Thata right! Batteries take a millenia to recharge, so I guess we be wary of our power consumption. One time, I was trying to catch up with a merchant ship at FULL speed, but ran out of battery power before reaching attack proximity, so I was literally a sitting duck for a while. Anyway, I am enjoying this game so far and will give it a decent review here after a few more updates, but as of right now, I'll give it 5 Stars in the AppStore.
