nice, that viking reminds me of an old cartoon i used to love, forgot the name of it though, had a big fat viking and a skinny little one that had a big white mustache...

@araczynski - I think you are remembering Asterix and Obelix? That was a great cartoon I used to read too, around the same days as Tin Tin (the new movie looks a bit terrible!)

Anyway we are soooo close to releasing the first test version to our loyal Touch Arcade testers.

Here are a couple of early shots of a knight unit (you can see we've listened to the feedback and have increased the resolution of the textures):

    thoughts on the alpha/beta/gamma...

must say it is very beautiful looking on my ipad1. the crossbow (forget the proper name for it) is fun to fire, more so than the catapult, i could not hit the last two dwarfs on the second level (with the catapult) for the life of me, gave up after about 10 minutes of trying. not sure if the other levels opened up after that one was done or not, but i never made it :( it is rewarding to see a dwarf squished by a big rock though ;)

graphics/animations are beautiful, music is great, and i especially love the markers that show you where you placed (direction/power) your last shot, makes shot adjustments much easier.

had no stability issues with anything, looking forward to the finished product whenever its done :)

Thanks for the feedback araczynski! Glad you are digging the iPad1 graphics.

There are only 2 tutorial levels available at the moment, plus that multiplayer level. In the catapult level you don't need to kill the knights to finish it, they are there just to be squished or burnt! The main objective is just to hit the barrels of explosives. Those instructions will be forth coming in future versions.

Blowfish Studios has just finished a hectic, but amazing week here in LA for E3. There will be some cool announcements and media articles forth coming I hope from this trip.

Expect more awesome content in the next test version soon!

    Cheers.

    looking forward to the updates.

curious if you plan on incorporating some kind of ability to tilt/swivel the view at a later point in time? as in one that would allow for the possibility of some of the views you have in the screenshots, as opposed to top down only as it is in the beta.

Might be neat to pull down to an almost first person view when using the crossbow weapon.

A video of the game play will help boost interest as I have no idea what the board game is...

didn't know it was based on a board game, can't say that makes a bit of difference to me, plays great either way.

No, it's definitely the board game "Crossbows and Catapults", as the developer said in an earlier post, which came out about 10 years before that one. As you will notice the castles from c&c look the same.

Yeah your right the castles do look the same. Also I just saw the front page that says "Crossbows and Catapults". :)
