The video was on a current gen Air, but they didn't say if it would run on older hardware.

2k games are typically pretty solid on high end devices for iOS, xcom and cub rev run flawlessly for me. I never tried the basketball game, cause ios just isn't the platform for sports gaming IMO. Civ rev 2 got a lot of neg attention because it wasn't miles different from Civ rev 1 and carried a big premium price tag. I loved the game and still do, xcom and rev 2 are the only games currently on my iPad, that is until mar 12th ;)

It's not going to be that slow, Vietnam '65 releases this week, that will definitely keep me busy until Starships gets here.

Oh well I will save money then. Unless it is not possible it is a huge mistake to not release on both ipad and iphone. In this case I can see it would not be easy to pull off. Papers Please not being on iphone is already bad enough.

No. This is coming out for PC as well, and Sid Meir is personally involved in the development.

I am not sure. On one hand, they say this is the full game running on the iPad. On the other hand, they want as many iPads to run this as possible for maximum profit. Since this isn't just a port, it gives me hope that old machines will run a less graphically intese version. Xcom ran fine, it just didn't look pretty.

I saw it's suppose to download now and unlock on the 12th. It's like a Christmas present that you know what it is but you can't open it until Christmas Day.

I've just seen PC/Mac requirement, but I haven't seen hardware requirement for iPad yet.

Yeah, I'm wondering if my old, full iPad 2 can fit it or even run it. I just wish I could play it on my iPhone 5. I want a better graphical 4x game for my iPhone than most of those out there.

I hope this does well. If it doesn't, it may be the last desktop quality game we see on iOS for a while.

    Godspeed, Sid...

That's silly, there have been a number of desktop quality games - XCom, both Shadowrun games, etc. I doubt it all rides on this game.

    Blimey, that's a bit extreme.

Let's face it, this is a fairly Niche & Nerdy title.

Maybe Apple will start a second N&N category alongside New & Noteworthy lol

I'm sure it will be featured anyway and I'm sure it will do well but I don't think the future of paid games is resting on Sids shoulders!

The Freemium Borg Cube has all but destroyed premium gaming on mobile. Regardless of you poo-poo-ers, every time a premium A-List desktop title comes out on mobile, everybody watches closely to see if it makes money. I still predict that if it doesn't do well, we won't see another game like this on iPad for quite a while.
