I got a treasure map with no text saying which city it's close to, just some vague location called Black Rock. How am I supposed to find this?

Do you have all 4 pieces of the map yet? If you do, press Trace on the treasure map screen. An arrow directing you to where the treasure is should appear on your main map.

So, what do the acres of land do for you? I've been gifted land from various governors, but I'm not exactly sure how that works. Does it translate to loot, or what?

Why isn't the logo Retina? The logo looks very ugly on my iPhone 4S. Is it only me?

Another thing is the Gamecenter Acheivements. It seems that Gamecenter doesn't work with this game. Anyone else with this problem?

Does anyone have this for two devices? I want to know if progress transfers from one to the other. I already have the iPhone version and am considering getting the iPad one.

Yep, 9.3.3 Beta on iPad Pro 12" works fine (iPad version) ... the iPhone version works also on my iPhone 6s+.
