Same price than a brand new console game actually, not more expansive. Local multiplayer and hotseat is included. I also know a bunch of games that dont jnclude multiplayer, but hey, if you dont want it, dont buy it, its that simple
I dont have a PC... I wouldnt waste your money on that version, you wont be able to play it at all! .....wait.... unless you are in a....... different situation to me.....
I'll agree that $60 is a bit dillusional, but I was still willing to pay $30 to have the latest Civ game fully portable. I think Civ 6 PC dropping to $12 is simply what happens after a game has been out a couple of years AND it's possibly a ploy to help get it on more PCs in anticipation of their $30 expansion dropping in less than a month. This is the first FULL expansion made for this game (i.e. not just a 1-2 new civs DLC, but many civs and some new mechanics).
As much as I hate to say it, $60 is a ridiculous price in the ios ecosystem. I payed the $30 happily but $60 wouldve been a stretch, especially since for the same $60 i got MGSV, Doom (the new one), and Far Cry Primal over Christmas on Steam. I hope they get some purchases at the price but i would bet a drop back to $30 is right around the corner.
It really did all feel like a weird ploy. $30 is a hard pill to swallow for an iOS game but the 1 bit that helped sell it was it was at least a heck of a lot better than paying $60. So this $60 value really only works as a boogeyman, but unless they actually stick to $60 for a few weeks it would be all to clear they never really intended to stick to the $60 price point.
Anyone get multiplayer to work? Has anyone been able to play a multiplayer LAN game? I have tried creating a game but the other person never sees the game I created even though we are on the same wireless network and tried refreshing. Can anyone provide any insight? Thanks.
I see aspyr released the fall update for mac today. Hopefully that means we'll be getting it on iPad soon.
There was additional DLC released with the fall update. Khmer and Indonesia Civilization and Scenario Pack were also released. The article I read said the DLC runs you and additional $9 each.
I downloaded the demo when the game released but was disappointed in the blurry graphics and large UI on my 12.7 iPad Pro gen 2. I assumed a patch would come out so I waited... then the price went up.. $89 Australian... I appreciate that this is a full blown desktop class game, but with that desktop class price, I would expect a bit more care to be taken to offer some adjustments to the UI and resolution. I know this is the 1000th post complaining about the price, but when I can walk down to my local games shop and buy AAA new release retail games that include Packaging, shipping, a physical disk, retail profit margin for $69-$79 then asking $89 for a digital game is taking the piss, particularly when that same game is much cheaper and superior on other platforms.
There are several posts about how to change to retina graphics and the UI scale. Just google Civ 6 Retina. Also, the app description said that the price was going to double and there were at least 2 stories here urging people to buy now while it was only $30. I agree $60 is too much for this game as it is much cheaper on any other platform, but you had your chance with plenty of warning to get it for half of that. Im sure some day it will drop back down to $30 or less.
Just an update. Been playing this for more then two weeks, and finished 2 standard sized games. I've edited two config text files to improve both the resolution and graphical detail (didn't actually compare screenshots, so not sure which of the options worked) and the game plays well, including later turns, on an iPad pro 9'7. The only issue with the mods is that it sips the battery really quickly, for a graphically non-intensive strategy game, I would prefer to have clean 2d graphics and more battery life. I consider reverting back my config file changes and see how it effects the battery life.
When I reverted, there were a lot of artifacts and tearing, graphically. I don't know if that will happen in your case, but if it does I deleted and reinstalled and all of the problems went away.
With the expansion coming out tomorrow (!) I have been in full Civ mode, playing VI on my PC and Rev2 on my iPhone. Looking at how well the Rev2 interface works, and looking at screenshots of the upcoming phone build for Rome, I really think that Civ Vi *could* work on a smaller screen. The limiting factor is probably RAM.
My iPhone 7 Plus and the newer 8 plus and X all have 3 gb of ram I think. How much does the game require?
