I accidentally left my iPad on the home screen for 3 hours... Everything turned on (Bluetooth, wifi, notifications etc), and its on 80%. On my iPad 3.
I was debating whether to update to iOS 6 or not because none of the new features really stood out to me, but I have to say I'm impressed. The new interfaces for the Music and App Store apps look awesome, and Safari is so much faster that it almost feels like I have a new phone.
so with google maps out, and apple's own solution in, what happens to the location bookmarks saved in google maps? i feel like i'm fine with using apple's maps while i wait for google's standalone app, but i really can't lose all those bookmarks.
I don't know for sure what happens to bookmarked locations because I never set any, but all of my map search history remained in the new Maps app after I updated.
Has anyone got the passbook app to work yet? I updated my Iphone 4S and Ipod Touch and it doesn't seem to work with either.
Haven't updated to iOS6 yet. I read some people have issues with the Game Center. Does it work now? Any photos/videos or game saves lost?
Ever since updating, my iPad 3 home button has been just a little bit slower to return to the home screen upon exiting an app. It's noticeable though. Anyone else seen this?
i went ahead and updated my ipad to ios6 since i don't really need maps on that other than to mess around. and holy crap did apple screw the pooch on this. at past apple events (there was one particular event where they say this, but i forget what feature it was), apple has unveiled some feature that other phone have had for ages...but they say 'we're late, but we wanted to get it perfect'. what happened to that mentality? maps isn't even half baked. they really should have renegotiated another year with google.
Well, one piece of good news is that iOS 6 seems to have added delta app updates. I have a 450 MB Mars atlas app that had an update for iOS6 and iPhone 5 compatibility fixes today, and the update took 6-7 seconds to download on my iPad. Now, unless my internet for the briefest of moments suddenly became super fast, it appears to have only downloaded those fixes and not the entire 450 MB app. This is great for those of us who play lots of 1 GB+ games and it takes forever to download the whole game again just for a minor bug or compatibility fix.
Well, updated to ios 6 on my new ipad. Took about an hour, and it was relatively painless. Didn't really notice much, just a few cool things, but overall, didn't seem like a huge update. Itunes store has changed alot, but other than that, haven't seen too much. Performance wise, seems the same, games seem to work fine, only one app doesn't seem to want to work, but maybe an update will come. Battery life does seem longer, don't know if it is an illusion, but people before were reporting way better battery life. So I am hopeful, but I won't be able to tell til tommorrow. How about you others, has battery improved? Overall, fairly painless upgrade. Cool small features like the new reading list, but losing youtube kind of sucks. Suppose I will have to download their app to see if it is any good.
Its not universal, not sure it will be. In iOS 5, visiting the youtube website in Safari triggered the mobile site with google's html 5 plugin - and no full screen or airplay buttons. Visiting the desktop version via the link at the bottom of the page was of no use, still using Google's plugin. In iOS 6 you're redirected to the youtube mobile site with the same limitations. However finally, using the desktop link at the bottom of the page to visit the desktop version of youtube now triggers apple's youtube plugin that does have full screen and airplay. If you like to use youtube on iPad, you're stuck using safari and telling youtube's mobile site to sod off.
How long do you guys think it'll be before there's an update to fix what iOS 6 broke on existing apps? Anyone recall how long before Apple updated iOS 5 for the first time?
