Hey, after all the hype of the Ipad coming out today, the prospect of me buying an Ipad is almost inevitable. The Ipad boasts features of a humungeous screen far bigger than my poor litte ipod touch 3g and beautiful graphics to boot. However the prospect of me looking like a complete and utter douchebag Carting a massive Ipad around with me and a price i am almost unwilling to play puts me in a real dilema! Should i keep my litte ipod or take a plunge and buy its big brother, help me TA!!!:(

You could sell your iPod for iPad money ;)

I was thinking earlier about how I don't even take my iPod out of the house, so portability isn't a "plus" for me. This way I would only look like a douche in the comfort of my own home.

I kinda wanted to wait for a second or third gen. iPad though.

    Not much help I know....

Buy it only if you can find a good use for it. You shouldn't buy it for games because some of the games are harder to control. I've been playing around with mines for a couple of hours. Dual-stick shooters like Minigore feel weird and games that use the accelerometer get tiring... I picked one up because I plan on using it for textbooks and media. It's an awesome device but don't feel pressured into buying something you really don't need. :)

    Anyway I hope that helped!

Go for it! The graphics and extra screen real estate will put that tiny Touch to shame! :D
Can't wait for the 3G version to come out....

Go ahead, but buy the Wi-Fi + 3G option. It will be worth the extra money.

Yea, worth it if you're planning to
    a) take it out of the house with you and
    b) to somewhere where there isn't wifi available...

    Not worth it imo

I want one, but not bad enough to be a first adopter, I would at least wait for the next rendition as you know apple will have it out next year with 5x the amount of hardware stuff this one should of had from the beginning, and who knows it could be cheaper too...

I want one, and I'm quite jealous of Eli, Arn, and Blake, but I'm going to stay strong and wait til next year at the least...

Same. I'll probably wait for the 3rd gen to come out before buying one. And who knows, by then, there might be something more awesome than the iPad.

Can you people stop calling it an "Ipad"? It's an iPad, with a lowercase "i".

It's not worth it unless you are an early adopter. I love my iPad because I used my iphone non-stop and I'm loving how some of the apps like Stumbleupon, NPR, and Marvel Comics really take advantage of the bigger touchscreen :-D Reading ibooks on this thing is surprisingly elegant but at the cost of being locked into iPads only. This thing isn't exactly in high demand right now and I don't think it will be until it lowers to a mainstream price and has more apps to show what the iPad is really capable of. I say wait 2-3 years and see if tablets become a proven device for the masses.
