Should I take my iPod in to be fixed?

Discussion in 'Off-Topic Lounge' started by LostLegend, Jul 26, 2011.

  1. Short version: The power button on my ipod doesn't work properly anymore - when I press it, the screen goes black (and if I keep holding it down) the screen turns on again!
Another example is taking screenshots - the screen turns off, turns on, flashes for screenshot and I have to unlock it again.

It's almost impossible to turn off the iPod properly now as a result.

Should I back it up on iTunes and take it to an Apple store?
(Will they replace the iPod and erase everything is what I'm worried about lol)

Yes you should take it in. Yes as long as it's under warrenty they should fix it free and clear. Yes, everything will be erased. =( EVERYTHING.

  3. Then I'll have to hold off.
The iPod has no warranty anymore - didn't choose to extend it and it's now about 3 years old.
I play a load of adventure/RPG games with lots of time and effort put in, so...

Try a DFU restore first to see if that helps.

  5. I think the issue is with the electronics.
