After using my new 64GB Touch this week, it seems like I will never fill up that much space. Before buying this, I didn't know about the limits on apps you can install, and that you can't use it as a USB drive to store files. Now I kinda wish I'd saved the $90 and got 32GB instead. I can still return it to Amazon, so what do you folks think? Should I go thru the trouble of returning it and getting a 32GB instead? I'm also afraid of getting a defective 32GB unit with dead pixels or something, since my 64GB has none.
All you could really fill it with is music and video... so depends how much of that you plan to have.
Why would you? The crisis with mine is that "can I fit this on there" because I have a lot of emails, music, and about 15+ GB of apps. (I know.... I have a lot ) I would keep the 64, in fact I wish I would've switched mine to the 64.
There's not really a "limit" to the amount of apps you can buy. You can, in all actuality, install more apps than there is room for on the pages. It's just that you'll have to use the Search page to find them. Besides, if you're considering jailbreaking, you can sort the games into individual files, Get more pages than 11, and have a 5x5 apps-per-page setup rather than the normal 4x4.
And with air sharing and similar apps you can use it as a USB drive. And even print from it. Keep the 64gig.
Unless the 64GB runs much faster, filling it with 64GB of apps and other stuff would cause it to run really slowly wouldn't it?
It runs much much faster. It has inserted a processor faster than the 3GS' processor, which probably means the next iPhone will have the same speed one, or a better one. It's so fast, it can play Eliminate and Tap Tap online without lag.
I've filled mine past the halfway mark, and I haven't noticed much (if any at all) lag. I make sure to reboot the device after installing new apps, which might help a little. I've got around 15-20 movies (ripped, so as to have a custom picture quality level ) on my Touch, so I dunno if the result would be different if it were filled with other media.
If you plan on keeping it for a while, stick with the 64 gb. Who knows, maybe you'll want to put an entire season of Lost on there, or huge medical PDFs (I dunno , it's possible). Better safe than sorry, and it's $90. Not that much when you think about it electronics-wise.
I would, if I bought a season of LOST. But I have it all memorized. I'll buy the season pass for the next one.
I'd say keep it because you never know if you might suddenly buy loads of videos or music in the future! And with big titles coming to app store like GTA and The Sims etc, file sizes will start increasing. I'd recommend researching an expensive product next time before buying especially if there could be a saving made.
I got 16GB and never looked back I don't use it for music or video, only apps. I've got about 150 apps on it with just over half my space used up, I've bought a lot more but I only need the best of the best on there. If I ever approach the limit I'll simply delete a bunch of games... being restricted to only having the 250-300 best games on my device at once is no hardship at all.
OK thanks everyone. Maybe I will just keep the 64GB. BUT... I'm confused about the apps limit now. So we can have unlimited apps on the Touch itself, just not have them all show in the menus? We can still find and run them by using the search? Is that it? Regarding jailbreaking, I have already looked into that and have the program for it. I'm just not ready yet to go for it. I would like to do things officially if possible, altho Apple has limited the user experience quite a bit it seems. So jailbreaking is tempting, if only just to have a better menu system with categories. Why Apple hasn't already addded that I can't fathom.
Yup. After the 11th page is full no more pages will be created but apps will still install to the device.
I did research it, and read lots of people saying to get the biggest you could afford. So I did. Note, here you are telling me to keep the 64GB!
