I don't know about the iphone cuz i don't have it but I'm not lying about the lag. Why would I do that? I just happen to like the game. And I read slidetoplay reviews all the time, but was disappointed by the review of cs.one cuz it was given a bad score just cuz of the device the reviewer was playing on. That's kind of unfair to the dev considering they worked hard on the game and if the reviewer had been using a better device it would have gotten a better score. Like if you play Crysis on your 1998 dell computer its obviously gonna suck. That's an extreme comparison, but still you shouldn't really give a game a bad score based on your hardware.
I don't want to get into an argument here, but Kelvin's review is valid. It is an opinion, which is a concept many people here can't seem to grasp. The point most of you are missing is that at least half of the people buying these games also have an iPhone... its not like we have a device that is completely different than everybody else. We give 100% objective reviews to our readers, so the fact that he or any developer worked for a long or short period of time is irrelevant to our opinion of the game. This means our reviews are never personal. This is yet another concept many TA members don't get. For the record, I agree with Kelvin.
I know what an opinion is thanks, but the main con of his review was that the game had lag. He said it would be a really good game if it wasn't for those hiccups, and my point is that it is really good for 2nd gen itouch users because it plays well and doesn't have those hiccups. A review of a 2 out of 4 might turn off gamers who might have a 2nd gen itouch that would run the game perfectly, but they wouldn't know it because it wasn't stated in the review. I always usually agree with stp reviews, i just think that point should be mentioned in the review as to not turn off people who might be interested, that's all.
I find this interesting.. at STP when a game is optimized for the new iPhone 3GS will that lower the score of the game?
If it is specifically optimized for an iPhone 3GS, I am sure we will review it on said device =] We are not out to get developers or give them unfair reviews.
If a developer states in the application description that the app is specifically designed for X device - Then any decent reviewer/writer will not mark down the app because it doesn't run / runs slow on a device that the dev did not specifically make it for. However, if they don't say anything about it and release said game for every device - Then expect the reviews to reflect that. So if a game is made just for the power of the 3GS, and the description of the app says that - Good for them. No one will mark them down for that. However, expect a lot of pissed off people if they don't clearly state in the description it will not work on older devices. My guess is that within the next half year or so Apple will update the app store to be device specific. Meaning a developer can choose which devices are compatible, and if you don't own a compatible device - You won't be able to download said app without at least a warning. I'm holding out on buying the 3GS for issues related to this. I can bet quite a bit of money that many current games will not run on the 3GS without serious issues. There are bound to be games that run off of the timing of the device alone, and don't follow a strict timing routine which handles the program itself. Meaning you'll have many games become unplayable because they are going fast-forward.
Wow I'm surprised (and saddened) to not hear more people recommend NanoFighter. I agree it's not as option and game mode rich compared to Isotope, but you'll be hard pressed to find a game that controls better than NanoFighter. It's simplistic, zen-like fun at it's finest. If you're looking for the "meatiest" game, then Isotope is probably what you'd want to get, I just wasn't that crazy about it compared to NanoFighter. They all are good games in their own right, I'm just flat out in love with NanoFighter and don't want it to be so quickly dismissed BTW here's some impressions I wrote for it: NanoFighter
I love nanofighter.. i haven't gotten tired of it and i've played it since it first came out. i tried isotope and the graphics aren't all that great and it just gets tiring having all those boundaries and the enemies are just... yeah not too interesting. The graphics, sound, and no boundaries make the game top notch and i can play for hours! I'm also dissapointed that no one is really mentioning nano, i find it superior to any other space shooter game.
