Should I Buy Minigore? I didnt really like iDracula....

Discussion in 'General Game Discussion and Questions' started by ToasterEater, Jul 31, 2009.

  1. IMHO, iDracula's monsters are highly detailed and very cool looking, unfortunately you have to run for your life and you can't really pay attention to them. But seriously you can't say it's boring to look at. Are we talking about the same iDracula. Maybe your talking about Khalid's iDracula. If that's the case then you're right. :D

My definition of something overhyped is when a majority of people regret whatever it is they purchased. So far I have not seen that many people that felt they bought a game they regret. Only one 1 star rating so far in the app store.

It is hard to regret spending 99 cents. :)

Unless those 99 cents could've gone to starving Siberian orphans...

No the game was overhyped, and the only reason why people are disappointed really is because of the hype. With all the homely people in the upcoming minigore thread sitting there for over 2 weeks straight posting comments like "is it out yet!" "where is it?" "Im gonna stay up another hour to see if it comes out" "whats apple doing" With all those comments I can see how everyone would expect the game to be "Godly or perfect" Why else would all these people post those comments in the thread every minute for 3 weeks straight? Cant be so rude to say that maybe they had no life. The game has to be perfect.

Well the game came out and its a good game. But its not perfect and a little shallow, definitely still a worthy purchase. The pre launch hype just completely damaged people's view of the game.

That is the opinion that I just don't think is based in reality. 139 ratings with one 1 star. People like the game. They got their 99 cents out of it. Forums on the internet are full of people waiting for whatever to come out. Not really sure what that has to do with if this game is worth people's 99 cents or not.

That's the problem with hype...it cuts both ways. But I do agree with donkei. Wait two weeks and see if people still feel the same about the game. That's usually a pretty good indicator...unless of course an update is out, and then we'll have to go through hype bs all over again.

  9. DAVE, Honestly, it's ok man. Big Albie and Freedog are just making a simple point. Think about this for a second if there are 3000 posts in just this forum alone for people overly excited about it, don't you think at least 5% of those people are going to show their love and passion for the game by at least giving it 5 stars. They spent every 3 minutes posting for it, i'm sure they couldn't wait to put a 5 star review, they were happy it was at least out.

Once again, not saying it's a bad game. Just not worth the 3000 posts. Real Racing maybe, this game No. If Castlevania "Symphony of the Night" :) ever came out on iPhone that deserves 3000 posts.

It is basically a weaker version of the same game, so no. I played it 3 times, and got progressively more bored each time. I really liked iDracula, but there just isn't much of a compelling reason to get this if you didn't.

    He's right.

I didn't even realize, all that was missing:
    - one weapon
    - one powerup (and an exploding box)
    - no ability to continue
    - same type of enemy (just 3 sizes)
    - one background

    Now I'm really confused:

    iDracula:
    - Original concept (on iPhone/iPod)
    - Multiple Weapons (awesome weapons)
    - Multiple enemies (highly detailed)
    - Multiple backgrounds (highly detailed)
    - Multiple Power-ups

Ok so here's my point (just style) makes this game great? What are we saying to developers, Ok guys make a cute looking game, with great style, music, and sfx, but leave gameplay and depth completely out. Then you'll have a hit on your hands.

The creator of Super Mario is crying right now. We lost our focus.

For the most part yes. I hate the iDracula style and this one is cute. Forum members are not typical iPhone gamers. Digital Chocolate has the most downloads and Rope n Fly is one of the top games. Games with "depth" belong on consoles.

Cute, meh. It accounts for a good 99.9% of the games on here. I'm seriously gonna slip into comatose if there's any more anime eyes. Gotta agree on the depth part, though. Finger crossed the the Online console launches successfully. Frickin' 360 died on me, the bastard.

  15. Do you sleep at 10:30pm? :D

Where the heck were you dave in my thread, when all I was getting was needs more depth, needs more depth, needs more depth. Or how about the TA review that said Minigore lacks depth.

PSP games have depth, Some but not all Nintendo DS games have depth.

Games (off the top of my head) with depth on iPhone:
    - Real Racing
    - Rolando 1 & 2
    - Toy Bot Diaries 1,2,3
    - Fieldrunners (well i like it)
    - Zenonia
    - D. Chronicles
    - RE4 (for godsakes man)
    - etc...

You gotta look at revenue not just units sold which is what the Top 100 is really about (quantity). But seriously don't you want the iPhone/iPod to be looked at the same way a PSP and Nintendo DS is, it's an evolution. I have more time to use my phone for gaming then my Xbox 360 or any of my handheld systems. Granted my console is a necessity, but i'm not going to say that I will settle for $0.99 depthless games. Thats your opinion, but I hope others don't feel the same way about their idevices.

I still like you though, your a cool dude. :D I just completely disagree.

Like plenty of other things in this world, I don't like this fact but it seems to be the truth. It doesn't matter whether people like it or not, it's just the plain truth about iphone gaming. The top 10 list is, and have always been dominated by no-depth, casual games, and developers have no choice but to follow the market wish.

None of these games is currently in the top 50 list. (Except Field runners, but I dont think field runners belongs to the games with "depth" list). That is really telling us something isnt it.

PS : And minigore is currently #19... Just in 1 day after released

Everything rises quickly in the chart when it's new. NFS, The Sims, iDracula all rose quickly. My feeling is unless the developer fulfill their promise of regular updates (maybe once every 2-3 weeks), it won't survive for long in the Top 50.

If it follows iDracula footsteps (price increase to $3 with more features) then rest assured it will suffer the same fate. People now rave about the art style in the same way they raved about iDracula, so it's a safe bet two months from now they'll also say the style is boring when something new comes out. Same fate, really.

By "everything" you mean major EA titles and iDracula? Very few games rise to the top 50 (it's #30 now) immediately after their release. Only games with major brands seem to consistently. Otherwise, this sort of rise is the exception, not the rule.

  19. Hi Monkey,

I was not focusing on popularity specifically, If you have a game that's $3-$5-$10 you don't have to be in the Top 50. Being in the Top 100 games section is good enough. The revenue is very much worth the investment.

And as was previously mentioned you fall really quickly without continuously adding new features with your update.

The game that defies most logic, just happens to be my friendly competitor Zombieville. That game at $2 is not moving from it's location on the charts. It's doing it's thing, major props. It's gone completely viral. I can only pray for that many people just to hear about Mummy's Revenge let alone buy it. :)

I dont agree with u here(xcept the highlighted part). Like arn already said, this sort of rise is more an exception then a rule. But I do concur with ur thoughts bout the grafix and everything will start to get boring after a while.

But until then. Minigore is a very good entertainer for 99cents. Not worthy of all this hype at all by any means. But still it`s simple gameplay, which is extremely easy to pick n play, coupled with some of the cutest 3D grafix we`ve seen on iPhone yet, this game is good value for ur money.
