Good choice. make sure you buy a 32 or 64 gig one. The 8 gig one are second generation ones with updated firmware. they are not nearly as powerful as the 32/64 gig ones
I haven't read the entire thread, but that's a very open question that depends what you're looking for. That being said, I bought the 3G 32 GB iTouch and I'm loving it. Faster processor, added hardware and cool form factor. I tend not to buy the first iteration of anything no matter how tempting because I see "version 1.0s" as "glorified betas". I'd rather wait for the iPad to have a camera and get any initial software bugs out of the way. I'll definitely be buying the iPad some time in the future after various upgrades. Given how fast technological "advances" surface at a rather quick pace, I'll favor patience reaping more bang for my buck down the line.
i had a 1st gen and got the 3rd gen pretty much soon as it came out. I dont think it's that great, there are some advantages, don't get me wrong. but 6 months is worth the wait, because you need to think ahead - great games will come out that may be 4gen only, and you'll be kicking yourself, and have to wait another year or so to get an upgrade.
Why would any games be 4th gen only? Its not likely that Apple is going to bump the processor speed again. I personally think Apple is just going to add a camera to the iPod touch. Thanks for the advice though.
perhaps devs may bring out a game implementing the camera, because atm their audience would be limited to iPhone only, but 4gen with camera would open this right up... just a thought though
Meh the only game that currently uses a camera is that paper shooter one. I don't know though. It is a valid point.
Alright you guys have convinced me. I'm going to wait for the 4th generation iPod touch! Hopefully it has a camera!
Yeah but from macrumors and ifixit there is an empty spot that would fit the camera perfectly. Not to mention on macrumors there is a video of the touch with a camera.
Your right. Apple wont bump the procceser seeing as there are not even 3g only games yet. 4g genertion will might have a camera.(3.2 megapixels) fm radio, and improved battery. The battery upgrade will also be available for all generations of the itouch. The camera is unlikly as it would just be reason to get an itouch instead of an iphone. Anyway you can get a 12 megapixle camera that can shoot video for under 100 dollars. In the 6 months you are waiting for the 4g itouch to come out, there are going to be alot of games that will be unplayble on a 1st gen due to lag(splinter cell, zombie infection, ect) .Some games todAy suffer lag on a 2nd gen.(BIA2) just get an 3rd gen. You can always sell it later.
Nah I'm gonna wait. I can wait six months and I'll only lose money by selling it later. The games I currently play all work on the 1st gen. so I'm just going to hang tight for a few months.
Suit yourself. Ill probably get a 4g ipod touch even though i already have a 3rd gen. I think you made the right decision.(6 months is a long time though)
Why not just buy an iPad? I also have a 1st Gen Touch--> nothing about the 2nd or 3rd gen Touches was groundbreaking enough for me to rush out and get one, but I think the iPad is going to be awesome. Magical. Just like Steve Jobs said.
Nah no iPad for me. In my opinion its good for the business environment but I travel alot and would be concerned about its size.
