The game progresses with a kind of exponential ramp-up in genuine skill - it sounds like you are on the cusp of the beginning of mastery. What card are you on ? Once that occurs is when you will be in the heat of all the battles - and you'll notice your skills go up drastically. Then you'll hit the red cards which will bring out that skill.
oh man.. that's one of the toughest cards. i remember leaving the game alone for some days after trying and failing so many times.. but after picking it up again when i calmed down, i was able to pass it Edit: now that i am well and into the red level cards, i have another suggestion: Please give us the option to remove the "non-mission fish" entirely from the levels. It is frustrating to be in a stage with 3 sharks, spin dodge and bolt, only for the dolphin to snag a non mission random fish, and get bit by the 3 sharks at that time. Or, most importantly, to want to turn towards the shark after you stun it, but the dolphin to target a random fish instead, and thus lose your chance over and over again. I'm sure i can pass it, by leading the sharks one inch away from the random fish eventually and getting in one bite at a time. In the easier stages it's fine, but at the grit-your-teeth hard stages, those random fish are just an element of frustration.
It is extremely interesting you've went through precisely the same thought process that I did. So, in the beginning shark levels, as you may have noticed, the extra fish are completely turned off, precisely for that reason. More specifically, one of the big stall-points was that people thought you could target the fish on the shark levels and the ai is totally turned off. So for the first 5 or 6 sharks there are no fish. Then I gradually reintroduce them purely as bells and whistles. I went from having them to not having them many times - but wanted to balance the whiz-bang to get new users with the pure, raw, hardcore gaming which would see them vanish. Its such a subtle detail of design though - pretty neat how you could hone in on that. I like your solution - take them away - bring them back for decor - then once you get to red take them away again. We are also in the beginning stages of adding some amazing coral and procedural ocean floors which should make it beautiful but not affect gameplay. We have your udid so I will make separate builds so you can test the new additions I'm planning. (Wont affect the one you have installed). For shark eaters 2 - I'm planning a type of projectile that the fish can emit, and electricity bolts. If you notice, your bolt emits two streams after a certain rank is achieved. Well this is strategic but I didn't put it in this one -- eventually those bolts will also act like flares - and can fend off projectiles shot out by other fish and sharks. I know I know, its "Sharks with freakin photon torpedoes"
excellent news! thank you for listening as always, and i noticed something else too: not only do the random fish affect the dolphin's control, but they are edible too. -so i thought, remove them (big thanks for agreeing to that by the way) but introduce them in *special extremely hard* stages, where if you eat one, it gives you back one heart/life, so you have sharks, swarms of fish, and you, and everyone is chasing everybody, but the fish can now give you back some health and i noticed the two stream bolt after my brown belt rank finally, i hope you got sales with the discount, this game is an experience on idevices, like monument valley (beautiful) and wayward souls(intense). For 99 cents this shouldn't be missed, and if i had a visa account, i would gift it to people simply to let them play it!
Our main problem right now is visibility- but without an apple feature or any serious coverage by the worlds preeminent iOS gaming site - it will be a purely word of mouth spread. We have neither so it's the hard way. More updates, more titles, more quality users to spread it.
I bought it on sale and am enjoying it. I didn't realize that Simon worked one time and then went into a 24 hour cooldown. Does he ever unlock completely? Or is he to be used only when you feel stuck? Edit: going back a few pages answered my question. Hopefully the TA powers that be will show some love with a review or something to help boost your visibility a bit.
He is only unlocked every 24 hours. You can use him as much as you like until you win - then he gets re-locked. A little secret is he is slightly better at the jumping game so you can really load up on bolts. Simon has a far greater stun power (the enemies get knocked out longer), is faster, and can withstand more bites. Zoey has a slightly greater stun power, is a bit faster, but usually doubles the lives in a match. The authors and reviewers at TA (Eli in particular) are articulate, professional, and insightful. This site is better than any other in my opinion. They write some amazing and accurate things about the state of the industry, about quality productions and IAP, which resonate so deeply with us. They have incredibly accurate insights into the trials and tribulations of trying to make a buck on this platform. Other sites blindly tout the mantra of "oh yeah piracy is good you make money other ways". Eli gets it. He completely gets it - and TA is the ONLY site that gets it. Many others have written about this - its the death of the creative class. Its entitled people feeling that creative people work for free. As Eli put it, its "why we can't have good things". We truly feel like Shark Eaters fits within the ethos and spirit of Touch Arcade. We are gracious to TA for their forums, and for running the world's preeminent iOS gaming site. Make no mistake. But why they will not review us, or even acknowledge us (I've sent countless emails to them before and after I Am Dolphin was launched and changed to Shark Eaters) beyond the forum or the bots, is a deep mystery to us. We are baffled, perplexed, and saddened. They are a private company and they are free to do as they want. We can only hope they will change their minds and give us a fair review of a game 3 people put a lot of effort into, and has started to grow a very high quality user base.
Someone already took l9nehknxatm7. Wish I had a code to try this. Looks like a fine experimental game, but not the type I usually buy. Is it fun? Sounds like hard work from what I've read here...
Very original firstly. Intuitive controls secondly. Game mechanics feel right on thirdly. I will play more without further ado and return with a more in-depth opinion
I redeemed the code you pm'ed me - thanks so much. I will try the game and show it to others as it is a unique looking experience on mobile. Hopefully word of mouth will spread this game's name far and wide and you'll have a big hit on your hands. Of course I'll write a review on the App Store too after I've developed some impressions. Thanks again.
EHXT34LTTE34 redeemed. Will post imps soon as I get a chance with it after work and class. Looks like fun!
