My husband and I have separate itunes accounts. We don't mind this, especially when apps and games were $.99.

However, now with ibooks and apps that are $9.99, we want to share itunes accounts.

I heard you can authorize multiple itunes accounts on one computer, but...will this mess with game data, cloud backups, or other data? We have some of the same games, and are reading different books at different rates. We have one ipad and 2 iphone 4s. Thanks. I googled this and got all sorts of different answers. Can someone help clarify this for me? Thanks.

I can't help with the books, but game saves are all stored on the device, not iTunes, so it shouldn't mess those up at all. The easiest way would be to use one account but on two seperate computers... I'm not sure what'll happen if you want to sync two devices with different apps from the same one.

Its fine as long as you remember which account is currently active (logged in) when you do any purchasing / downloading. Otherwise, when you re-download, you may be re-purchasing because the purchase has not been made in that account.

Do note that switching back and forth between accounts is a big hassle.

You can also sync a device that has multiple accounts to one computer (one iTunes). What you cannot do is sync one device to more than one computer (e.g. iTunes at your work computer and iTunes at the home computer).
