Big thumbs up! Really enjoy this type of deck builder and Temple Gate did a great job on the presentation, visuals are super sharp and the artwork is really good. Played a couple of games so far with easy AI to get a feel of the game and had a great time. Easily recommended for fans of Star Realms and Ascension.
Although it plays really well and butter smooth, feel it needs more substance at this point. As the creator pointed out, the game was effectively "fixed" with the expansion, so I feel were still in beta until that's released. As this is going for 7.99, I'd expect that the expansion was at least available.
I didn't know anything about the physical game, so I was really surprised just how similar it was to Ascension and Star Realms. After playing a couple games, I'm still unconvinced that it adds much of anything to the genre. I honestly feel like it could've been an expansion to Ascension (although, in fairness, I've stopped playing Ascension and they got me to buy this one immediately, so good on them?).
Yup Much like you I’ve stopped playing Ascension at the 3rd 4th expansion?!? At some point I think adding too many expansions just dilude what was fun to start with. True this game is really in the same vein as Ascension and Star Realms. But I think it have just a little twist that makes it a very enjoyable CCG. Without, of course, reinventing anything. The app is nice and polish so it is good for a little fix on the go once in a while. But where this game really shine (like most boardgame) is when playing against friends with a couple of beers. Since interaction is probably half the fun. I guess it’s just a matter of, are you tired of playing these kind of games? Platformers for example have been there for decades and besides some twist here and there. You still run from left to righ, jump, roll, rinse and repeat. And I still enjoy couples of ‘em! Want some more CCG? I think you can’t go wrong with this one. And I think the price for the quality of the game/product is fair. Tired of Ascension and the likes... Maybe wait a little!
I was in the beta testing. Great game! And I'm glad that Apple has this free beta testing in contrast to Google where you have to buy in order to be a tester for a game (and own it when it will be released). I like Star Realms a lot and I cannot decide which of the two I prefer most. I will wait for a price drop but this game is probably for tablet (in ipad is very smooth by the way) and not so for phones.
Crash only seems to affect Medium AI; devs are aware (there’s even a message to that effect on the title screen) and will be fixed as soon as Apple approve the update. Excellent game.
I've been playing the beta, and it is my favorite deck builder. I love Ascension, and this has much in common with that, but with the direct attack that you see in several other deck builders. I bought it immediately!
Yes, which has the disadvantage of making me realise even the medium AI massacres me every time. I need to practice more.
Play both Race4tG and Ascension on a daily basis, so this is a no brainer for me. This one has a lot of familiar mechanisms and it is quick to jump into. There are still some new twists I need to figure out how to employ them. Very good game, btw. Also, using email to add friends is an improvement over Race4G. See ya online.
What the the advantages of fast play vs recruit? I know fast play plays the card that round so why wouldn’t I always fast play vs recruit? Thanks
