Because a developer has a right to not release their game on a device that it would be a substandard gaming experience on.

If they did release it on the iPhone 5, a bunch of people would complain that the text and buttons were too small, and those complaints would forever be associated with a game that they have spent years creating even though the complaints were from users of a platform that it was never meant to run on.

And they COULD totally redesign the interface to work on a smaller screen, but I would hazard a guess that HBS does not have the manpower or money to do so.

Sandboxing has nothing to do with it. The reason free space shouldn't matter is that RAM is what is used for processing, not storage memory.

Sandboxing locks out apps from communicating and exchanging data with other apps and systems of your device. This is done to improve performance and minimize RAM usage as well as for security. It has nothing to do with managing storage space.

I have heard anecdotal accounts if devices that are severely short on storage space having performance issues. This would logically only apply to apps that cache temp data from the Internet such as while video streaming and web browsing. Can't see how that would apply to a non-online game.

Playing it on my Note II, (thanks btw for the update with all sound ;) ) and will say that I have no problem with reading fine print, in general, as it is, but even on that screen size it is pushing my vision limits (still quite readable though!)

I understand wanting to keep the game on the larger screens, but in terms of memory and performance, if the game plays well on an iPad Mini (and it does), then it would play well in the far-more-powerful iPhone 5.

As far as screen size goes, I've had no issue playing the game on galaxy s4. The text is small but not unreadable, but on the iPhones even smaller screen it might, as others have said, be too small to enjoy the game.

One issue I've noticed is the difficulty option in settings doesn't seem to work. Every time I change it once you leave settings then come back it has changed back to default.

Ok. So I've played this for about 7 hours and I LOVE IT!!!

At first I like the artwork and it looked intriguing so I bought it. The video FAILS to capture the suspense of the story. LOVE THE STORY and GRAPHICS and GAMEPLAY. I think this will be my GAME of the MONTH.

Yes no music or sound apart from the guns etc but its unparalleled as far as a full on gaming experience. I really can't describe the experience it's just very immersive.

Just haven't figured how to get ammunition. So far I've coped but no-one seems to have ammo. Anyone know about this?

hi, i would just like to clarify in order to help fixing the issue:
i play on an ios7 ipad mini 32gb and have 5.8gb free memory, no other apps running.

the game crashed several times in the mission where you have to get rid of the halloweeners gang, at different points during the mission.

another minor issue: in character creation, can' t you preview the players model as you make colour changes to it? also the character portrait isnt as sharp as the npc's. but i think this is minor.

all that said, thanks for listening and caring, waiting for the patch now :)

Have you tried rebooting your iPad?
If you haven't, there's every chance it'll resolve your issue.

I play on an iPad mini as well and it's nothing but crash after crash, restarting the iPad does little to alleviate it unfortunately. It has really put me off playing the game even though I was enjoying it immensely, I won't be touching it now until it is more stable.

I'll check it out thanks. Didn't know there was a reload. It just said out of ammo I assumed I had no ammo.

Runs smooth on my ipad2, iOS6. I am still in the campaign, but can't wait for the new content! Want more stuff, more clothes, lootable bodies and the fan stories.
This game has so much potential!

Been playing this all day today and its 1am. I don't know what it is about this. Doesn't need music for atmosphere. Its one of those brilliant games that is so good that even with the so called sound bug I'm finding it immersive as hell.

If there is more content then that will be fantastic.

    No crashes here ipad 4.

So I had 400 mb left on my ipad mini. I deleted a bunch of stuff and freed up 4 gb. I restarted the ipad and tried again. It helped a lot. Before, I could not get past the Haloweeners part. Now, I've made it to the drug dealers apartment. I've had a few crashes since. It is still a little annoying. I was in the middle of a big battle and it crashed. Still hoping for a patch. Thanks though for helping me out.

It's not iOS7 specifically but the additional memory usage probably isn't helping. I'm running 6.1.3 on a mini and have the same issues. The save system is not-at-all mobile-friendly so like you I've lost literally hours of progress over a couple of unfortunate crashes.

Building a new save system isn't going to be easy and I would not expect a patch to address it any time soon, but perhaps they'll surprise us. I love the Harebrained Schemes folks, so I'll be waiting patiently.

    EDIT:

I can always tell the game is about to crash when the menu animations get really chunky. In fact, I'd say that the bulk of my crashes have to do with going into and out of inventory or talking to vendors more than a couple times within one map. Map transitions are the other culprit I've noticed.

    1st gen iPad Mini (16GB). 13.7GB capacity, 11.7GB used, 2.0GB free

    Know Issues and Questions Answered

    Hello All!

I would like to tell you all what our known issues are and answer some questions that I have seen come up over the weekend.

    Known Issues:
    1) Rain and some other environmental VFX have been turned off to preserve FPS. (This however is not a bug and is unlikely to change.)
    2) Items from the Options menu don't appear to change (most options are reset to default when the options menu is opened, and we are working on a fix.)
    3) No ambient sound or music (This has been fixed and the patch should push out from Apple any day now.)
    4) Possible lag when actors are spawned or killed. (We are investigating optimizations.)
    5) Crashes on iOS7 + iPad Mini. (This issue I am personally investigating.)

    Questions:
Can I play this on the Vita?
At this time we do not support game pads, so Nvida Shields, Vita, or playing Shadowrun Returns on PC/Mac with a controller will not work. We would like to support game pads, however at this time its not on our priority list.

Why cant I play Shadowrun Returns on my iPhone?
    Short answer: Its too small.
Longer (short) answer: The hardware on iPhones are not up to spec with the minimum requirement to run Shadowrun Returns.

But my iPhone 5 is awesome and can run anything!
Yes your iPhone 5 is awesome, however Shadowrun Returns is a very memory and graphic intensive game, thus running it on the iPhone 5 would still cause frequent crashes.

Its so hard to read! (Not a question but there are quite a few voices out there)
We are looking into possible fixes or solutions to this, however in the mean time you will just have to break out the reading glasses. (Sorry...)

    Save system!?!?!?
Everyone would love a save anywhere system and we would love to deliver it! However this issue needs some understanding... First off I would like to say that we are currently looking into this. That said, it is not something that we can commit to, as save anywhere is a major architectural change.... its quite the task and may take some time (if we can even pull it off) so please give us some time and see how things go.
