There is and probably never will be a save "fix". The save is ok. It's not broken. Apparently it would be a ton of work to change. If that's all that's holding you back, I'd just buy it.
Yep, still unplayable. Kind of feel like I put money in stock, the price went up, but I can't sell it....
Finished the campaign yesterday and what a blast did I had doing it. I really love the universe presented here and its a shame there isnt any more campaigns as I would love to keep playing this for at least a couple more days. I experienced a fair number of glitches while playing but I never lost a save or too much progress as the majority of crashes I had happened during the loading/saving screen and forcing to restart the game but without losing the progress made at that point. I played it on an ipad 4 sporting the latest ios version. All in all a great experience, i may end up finishing it a couple more times just to try/roleplay different characters. Kudos to Harebrained Schemes for an amazing piece of work, keep polishing and adding to it please!
Ugh. At this rate I'll probably have the iPad mini retina before the patch hits to improve performance on iPad 2/mini.
Agreed. I really want to play the game but the game breaking crashes prevent this. So excited just to play even the beginning of the game but then all the crashes hurt, especially with the save system. Although I do like the save system but at the current playability of the game it makes me cry. BTW, I use the iPad Mini.
Using iPad 3 64GB using 7.0.2...going to update to the new one tonight. No other apps open. Played 4 times Beneath the Brotherhood and once Marie Louise comes out of the matrix and I have to use my char to go in (while the undying scorpion things are still lurking), the game crashes every time...and this is like 15 mins into the stage too, so I had to keep re-doing it to no avail. And it's also very frustrating that partway through that time my char has a 10 second delay between firing her weapon and the actual contact with the enemy.
This is an issue that I have finally been able to reproduce in house, and we are working on the fix for this now. The next patch is going through testing now and will be put out to Apple as soon as we can, the patch will help with issues with iOS 7 and further memory and load time optimizations. This will not be a fix all, but should help alleviate crashes, especially mid scene crashes that loose progress. As all ways when you are playing it is a good idea to restart your iPad before opening up Shadowrun Returns, and ensure that other apps do not run in the background.
Good News Everyone! Patch 1.0.9 for iOS goes live tomorrow (11/13/2013)! This patch contains memory and load time optimizations for issues connected to iOS 7. This patch will not be a fix-all but should help alleviate mid-scenes crashes as well as crashes in general. As always, when you are playing it is a good idea to restart your iPad before opening up Shadowrun Returns and ensure that other apps do not run in the background.
This game was released half baked, and for a princely sum. With a painful save game system a buggy game on iOS is not acceptable. We are paying an awful lot to be beta testers.
No, the game was a port with most of the benefits of the PC version, but all the same issues regarding saving. Reading through this thread, or any development posts about it, or really reading anywhere it was clearly stated that the save system was checkpoint only. No, it isn't that mobile friendly, but that's the nature of the game design. I don't like it, I don't agree with it and I would die to have a better system, but to say we are beta testers is categorically untrue. The game itself isn't perfect, but it's been fine on an iPad 2 and 4, both running iOS 7, and any other issues, while there were some, are now being worked on. Jeff - the one issue I have, though, is the fact that this was not tested on iOS 7. There's no reason that while developing the game you would not have been able to install and test on the new OS. It was available for developers early this year, and had that been done we would have had a working game, with sound, right from the gate. But we are where we are now, and I strongly urge you to try and push forward with Berlin and the UGC. It's vitally important for us, as although the price was cheaper for not having the editor, we also have access to literally ZERO content being produced now. The PC players have infinite content AND will have Berlin coming soon. I'm assuming, based on the huge numbers the game saw, that the release went at least decently well for you? Know that there are many, many, many who have cleared the content and, unlike those on the PC, have to choose what to do, leave a 1 gig game on our device in hopes that we'll get something else anytime soon, or delete it and cross our fingers.
