I really gave the game a solid play through and I must admit I'm enjoying it. I love the fact that the only way you can upgrade weapons and items is by playing the game. Yeah the premium accounts deff get stuff faster but I think they did a great job with the structure. I just purchased 2 weeks worth of premium account for 4 games I downloaded over tap joy. I'm really enjoying this.
I wouldn't see the premium thing as a problem if the balance was better, but ATM it's awful. I'm getting killed with just one enemy shot, while I can't hit them because of the hit detection (I'm sure it isn't only lag). Starter weapons suck, just like this whole upgrades thing. I mean, WTF? And everyone can buy any weapon from the start as far as I know with the research tree. You only need enough money. So ranks are useless, right? This needs an update ASAP.
The only way to buy weapons is buy playing the game and winning money in game, which can't be purchased through Iap. The only thing you can do is get a premium account and every match you'll get about 30% extra money. Even with the start weapon I came in first place twice. The reason your getting one hit killed is because when you take damage you don't re-heal right away. So somebody can lay into you and you can get away and turn a corner and one shot will kill you. Or maybe your just not that good at the game I feel that for what it is, it's a solid way to get a free game out there. If you want to earn gold faster the give the $2 for a week and 3 days account, which quite frankly the dev deserves. And if that's still to expensive then madfinger still let's you play the game and be competive for free. You'll just have to play 30% more games then a premium account holder to keep up with there xp and cash they get. I just don't understand how someone can complain about this structure. I don't know to many games you can play for FREE and get this kind of quality. Great job madfinger.
And also they give you another way to get a premium account for free. Just download a couple games from tapjoy and this way you get free gold and madfinger gets advertising dollars.
I'm talking about gameplay balance. OK, I'm not good at this game, but does that mean that I should be killed with just one shot? I know that this doesn't have autoheal, but for God's sake, full health, one shot, dead. And I'm not talking about the shitstorm, which is OP too, or about the sniper rifle either. Just some random weapon (I don't know which weapon because the game doesn't tell you that). And I need way more than one shot to kill someone, even without hit detection issues (sometimes I can't even hit enemies behind cover when I'm behind them!). I can't play a lot because of the crashing issue (I'm not going to reboot my iPhone 4S after every match), but one day after release there are some people who has my equiqment more or less (the first assault rifle + some items), while others have turrets, health pack, shitstorm and way more powerful weapons. If there isn't any "rankwall" to get the weapons, you only need: a) a LOT of time and patience or b) the premium thing. Every other iOS shooter game has better balance than this game: -Trigger Fist has really good balance. You can buy weapons with 0,99$ IAP I think, but because of its balance, buying every weapon instead of leveling up doesn't make you OP. -Modern Combat 3 (I didn't play MC2 that much so I will talk about this one) has "rankwall" which makes IAP almost useless, even when you can buy military support in-game with the same credits. Some guns are OP, like the Roar or the OPS, but it still has better balance than this game. Even the Bravel, the first weapon of the game, is really powerful. -Nova 3 (I didn't play Nova 2 MP) also has "rankwall", and I found its balance worse than MC3, but it's still better than SG: DZ. Just like MC3, you can also buy powerups in-game, but the IAP here is almost useless too, even after the new price of the jetpacks. The rocket launcher+jetpack is too OP here, but even the first weapon of the game (the assault rifle) can be really deadly with the right perks. -Eliminate, which was the first FTP iOS game, also had better balance than SG: DZ, and I'm talking about a game that also had upgrade system and even this stamina thing of freemium games (you couldn't earn credits if you didn't have any cells left, which could be recharged after some time). I didn't spend a cent, and I still managed to be 1st in almost every match from the start. I think it had the "rankwall" too. -Archetype has awesome balance too. You don't earn any credits since you pick weapons up while playing. Of course, the first weapon isn't that cool, but the rest of them are greatly balanced. -Warm Gun has great balance too. It doesn't have ranks or credits, so you just select your favorite class. I didn't buy any IAP in those games because I didn't need to buy it. I was able to earn some cool weapons and perks while killing some people without almost any problems (except hackers ). But here, in SG: DZ, I just can't. I'm getting killed everytime, and I can't do anything to solve it, except playing lame style or not playing at all. If you're not having any problems, then great for you, but sadly I'm not that satisfied with the current balance of the game.
All I can say is that Nova 3 is way more balanced than Deadzone. The reason being you could obtain ANY weapon from within the game itself (spawn areas). You also could only buy a few weapons (like the useless lightning gun)...not like in SG where every weapon can be bought. Finally, there's the instagib mode which puts everyone with the exact same weapon...this was by far my fav mode (fav map being heart of the machine. All I hope for is a mode like this in SG and the ability for us to choose maps at the very least. Then the game will be perfect. Now, I will give it a rating of 4/5 because it has got good fundamentals. PS: I find the machine gun to be really good.
Did you not read what I said earlier in the thread? I'm not upgrading. My iPod works fine, whether Madfinger thinks so or not. And they definantly should've released a seperate iPod 4G version, as that *probably* would've avoided the oodles of one star reviews coming in.
Dude, One star reviews ARE NOT from those with iPod 4Gs only. Its from those with iPhone 4S and iPad 2 (like me) where the game crashes at startup. Just so you know, the iPhone 4S is the most common iPhone and the iPad 2 the most common iPad in the world...hence the deluge of 1 star reviews. In any case, Deadzone is sucking up a lot of my time.,...I am probably gonna delete it from my Tab after tomorrow (same thing I did with Nova 3 after reaching Lvl 70 in less than a week). I am now at Level 13 btw within 30 hours. PS: Android users do not have native controller support for the game. It was present (I can confirm) in the Beta but has since been removed. Also, matchups seem to be segregated depending on your Level. Now all my enemies are Lvl 10 and above...damn things are getting tough!!
Sounds like this is very imbalanced compared to Nova 3 which I have never bought. I was thinking of buying a skin but will instead check into alternative games
How large are the maps ? Does every character/class have a advantage/disadvantage ? For me personally I'm DEFINITLY upgrading to a iPad mini.thanks to anyone that answers my questions.
Last night the ganes were giving 600-700 gold. I know from dead trigger that tapjoy changes the gold they give on a day to day basis. But even at 200 gold, if you download 6 20mb games it should take a couple minutes and that'll give you a one week premium.
I just wanted to show everyone how easy it it. In the last 10 minutes I accumulated basically a months worth of premium play. All for free. And I already have two weeks worth. Tapjoy is the best
Hey man this is unfair. I just checked on my iPad and the max for a free game is 109golds. How do you get so much? I spent a few mins earlier in the day amassing 850 golds for 6 offers.
