Should I buy this game? Or do you think MFG will throw a sale when multiplayer comes out? I don't know what to do.

Level 6. I haven't had the time lately to play.

I did play a level or two on hard and the difficulty was significantly harder. I'm looking forward to replaying the campaign on the hard level. :D

I can somewhat agree. If you get deeper into the game, there are a few more types of enemies added. The enemies remind me a lot of the enemies in Killzone which all seem to have the same look and feel, but there is some variety with the weapons they use (same will eventually come if you play longer).

What I do agree with is the death animations, they seem to be the same whether you are using the standard assault rifle, shotgun or even the more powerful weapons you get later on. It just doesn't feel like I'm packing something significant when the enemies just fall down. How about adding more effects for some of the later weapons that truly give them the feeling of power.

I'm not going into weapon details on purpose for those that aren't there yet. It's nothing special, but I don't want to ruin what's there.

I'm always confused by this type of post. I can certainly appreciate wanting to save money, nothing wrong with that but I think whenever buying a game, you gotta ask yourself: is THIS game worth $8 bucks? or is game X worth $1/$2 bucks? If yes, you buy it, if not, you skip it and wait but don't put expectations for getting it at a cheaper price.

No ill intent towards your post, there are times when yes, $8 can be a bit of bucks but to a console gamer, boy is that cheap! I have been on the receiving end of many a purchase which the game then goes on to be cheaper but I never get frustrated over that, because the bottom line is: for me, the game was worth the investment of spending the price I paid, more power to others if they end up getting it for less/free.

This is the best 3rd person shooter I have played on iOS so far, great 3D engine, and lots of variety

Just can't understand why the press has so little love for this game, and compared to gameloft clones, this is way way better, and very console like.

Never crashed in either my iPad 2 and iPhone 4, not even before the update, so now that has been updated, I just hope TA writers would give it another review refresh.

This game is really showing how far iOS gaming has come since 2008, when we had the original hero of sparta and kroll as notable 3D games.

Shadowgun may not be original, lack online but everything else clicks for me. I am playing for the 3rd time and compared to say game loft latest,9MM, game loft has a lot of catching up to do.

This is why I never buy a game when it comes out, because 1) I know if it's good or not (and it is) 2) It will always go on sale :p

Mmm ... interesting. I was totally negative on the game based on what everybody says, but could not pass the sales (also because I do like all their games so far).

I think the critics have some fundamental reason to be unhappy. The game lacks enemy variety and this reduces the intensity of the game. But honestly, the look is fantastic, and controls and fluidity of the game (on ipad2) is impressive. And so far I am liking it more than Dead Space and most Gameloft titles (except modern warfare, and still need to fire 8mm).

So, glad I could support this dev and I am taking this game as the first step towards its second installment with more intensity, better sounds (dead space is great for that), more variety. MFG please give us Shadowgun on steroids!

TYPO: Modern Combat 2 ... not warfare :D

lacking variety? 9mm which was rated higher by TA has even less variety ... just thugs with guns all the way ... and hardly any boss fights

and dead space is way overrated IMO, true the first few mins is visually striking, but the controls were wonky compared to SG, and its all aliens for half the game (never got to the end to be honest, just got bored)

and yet SG has so much better control for iOS games, and so much better graphics .. its as smooth on iPhone 4 as it is on iPad 2, which is quite surprising ..

I have not played 9mm yet, but compared to the only game I indicated as better, Modern Combat 2, the variety is limited in the gameplay/enemy.

Play a little further and there are some additional enemy types. I think it would have worked better if they had introduced some of them earlier in the game. It did feel like I was fighting the same grunts repeatedly, but later on, there is some variety mixed in.

agreed. Like you, I never beat Dead Space  I was sure I got to the last level though. Most of the time an enemy (the same ones on every level) runs at you and you shoot his limbs while he hobbles towards you. If he gets too close or your outnumbered, fear not, you can run faster and turn around, shoot and repeat! As for the controls, I never found a way to exit the zoomed state without taking a short sprint forward. That's said though, I don't believe Dead Space is overrated. I believe ShadowGun is highly underrated.

EDIT: just to add, I've beaten ShadowGun at least 3 times (once on each difficulty) and played through levels 5-9 a number of times on each difficulty and I still regularly boot it up to show off and make others jealous

The same could be said of Shadowgun. Seek cover, shoot baddies, rinse, repeat...
But I do agree with you, Shadowgun was massively underrated by the critics.
