Lol. I like my iPhone, don't get me wrong, and I like the games that I can get on it.. but I wouldn't not consider buying a dedicated handheld for more gaming goodness. Personally I'm considering buying the Vita when it comes out, although I would like a 3DS (mainly for Street Fighter and Ocarina of Time). Only the Sith deal in absolute.
I think that I'll be getting this for the graphical experience alone! the gameplay looks good to me also - reminiscent of Gears og War! I'm looking forward to this one.
Will iphone4 be able to support this game? The graphics seems too massive for this device! Ipad2 with a5 processor will be able to run this fantastic game smooth, but i'm not sure iphone4 will!
The pictures he uploaded about Shadowgun a few pages back were of iPhone 4g and iPod Touch 4g gameplay. Also what about ragdoll physics MadFinger Games?
Marek at Madfinger was kind enough to include me in the final-round testing group -- we're playing what's essentially the finished game. He has asked us to keep our comments to "feelings" and "impressions'" so don't expect any screenshots or spoilers. I just got started, so there's not much to say but: 1) Yes, the game looks like the screenshots. Think Dead Space, but faster. 2) Please ignore the E3 video, as far as gameplay is concerned. This is definitely a tactical shooter, with AI guided enemies that change their attack patterns in reaction to your behavior. 3) Cuts-scenes, dialogue, and voice acting put Gameloft to shame. In fact, you can say the same thing about pretty much every aspect of the game. And as folks around here know, I'm no Gameloft basher. 4) On normal mode, this ain't a cake walk. I've found at least one action beat that seemed impossible until I actually thought about what I was doing and took a different path to the objective. 5) I'm testing on both the iPhone and the iPad, and though there are differences, I don't see the experience significantly diminished on the smaller screen. I'll post more as I play more (still vague, of course). So far, the game does not disappoint -- in fact, I would venture to say that it's better than I expected.
Yeah I know, I was talking about Madfinger. That's good, since I have an iPhone 4 as well. The game will probably look worse on the 3Gs since it doesn't have retina. Did you notice any lag when multiple enemies were on the screen at once? (on iphone 4)
Not really. Performance is a bit more consistent on the iPad 2, but seems a steady 30 FPS or so on the iPhone -- with all the standard caveats (restart after installing, clear your memory every once in a while, etc.). The iPad 2 feels close to 60 FPS, but don't quote me on that.
Thanks for posting that review Squarezero. So it seems to me, from your analysis, it could be one of the best, if not the best shooter in the iOS market I can't wait to purchase this. Will there be multiplayer on release, or will Madfinger add that on a future update?? Thanks !!
I would say it's the most polished and "console-like". Best is too subjective a term: some folks will prefer the run-and-gun style of MC2 over something more tactical like this. For some reason it reminds me of the PSP Resistance game that came out fairly recently. Only that one pretty much aimed for you -- this feels much more hardcore.
