Also, can you elaborate on the controls? not sure how there "finicky" as mobile controls have their limitations compared to a real controller...i cant really do much more to improve them but i did make the d-pad controls larger in a recent update so maybe that might help? Also, my game supports bluetooth controllers which offers the best gameplay experience : ] Regards, -Leo Leo Nanfara Member Jan 17, 2024 12 0 1 Male Unity C# Programmer Vaughan, Ontario Canada https://www.spacelabgames.com #6 Leo Nanfara, Jan 19, 2024 Thanks, glad you like my game and your comfortable with the touch controls : ] The most recent version of my game, 1.5.7, now has stackable game shop items, several new enemies and a new tripe shot ability. I thought my pricing model was reasonable considering I'm not asking players to pay $74.99 for 20,000 coins...which I've seen in many other mobile games and personally i think that's absolutely ridiculous. I am considering adding ad based shop items in the next update so players can earn coins and gems by watching ads as an alternative to paying money. Congrats! Seriously. To me, it‘s not the height of the IAPs, it‘s the fact that you went for free-to-play and constant possibility to advance faster through repeatedly paying for in-game currency. This game would be interesting to me, if it was a premium game that I‘d get with a single purchase, either in-app or before download. But I‘m super minority here. So, from a business standpoint you‘re doing nothing wrong. But you also feed into a market that is basically dead because of those monetization models. EDIT: That‘s why I really wish games like yours had two versions in the App Store. One with your model, and one called *app name Premium* without any IAPs and an upfront price that feels good for the dev. Leo Nanfara Member Jan 17, 2024 12 0 1 Male Unity C# Programmer Vaughan, Ontario Canada https://www.spacelabgames.com #18 Leo Nanfara, Jan 20, 2024 Thanks appreciate it...i have built some games in the past but they were flash based. I'm not really sure if a premium version makes sense to be honest. If i were to put up a premium version for lets say, $3.99, then you would actually end up paying more for the game. With the current free version its only $1.99 to remove the ads and paying for coins/gems from the live shop is entirely optional and its really up to the player to decide if they want to progress faster by making those purchases for upgrades...otherwise they can just play the game normally and use whatever coins/gems they collect during gameplay for upgrades. IDK, maybe I'm missing something here? -Leo squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,716 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #19 squarezero, Jan 21, 2024 You aren’t missing anything. For many folks around here, IAPs are a matter of principle. Many of us have also been burned by publishers who claimed IAPs were “optional” but then build IAP progression walls into their games. You seem earnest, though, and from what I’ve seen of the game so far, I take your use of the term “optional” seriously — enough that I paid for removing ads. But for some folks, that’s always going to be a tough ask. Welcome to TA, BTW! Leo Nanfara Member Jan 17, 2024 12 0 1 Male Unity C# Programmer Vaughan, Ontario Canada https://www.spacelabgames.com #20 Leo Nanfara, Jan 21, 2024 Ya i don't believe in progression walls or any of that nonsense - when i set out the create the live shop for my game it was purely for the intention of upgrading the hero faster but its really not required...you can play the entire game from beginning to end without having to spend any real money. But this does bring up a bit of a concern for me as I'm assuming there will be more players out there who might get turned off by the live shop without realizing that the game is fully playable as is...humans have a tendency to assume too much in some cases...and Rocco SE is a fine example of that lol.
