Thank you for that explanation. Even though I still wish I could build my deck whichever way I would like, I can accept this as a good reason why I can't. Also thank you for actually explaining rather than just saying "Dude, that would destroy the balancing and ruin the game".
Perhaps some point in the future there could be some Neutral Ability card that lets you use another Race/Class ability at some huge additional cost in life, mana, or shadow points.
There are cards like Rain Delay, Bad Santa, Extra Sharp, etc that are neutral ability cards that can be used by any hero.
Thanks to ascension I fired up this game again ... Super cool!! I am developing an hero and a Mage. I was trying to buy a card and the game said is no longer fir sale ....
From what I've heard, the merchant tries to simulate a real life store in that a card can "sell-out" for a period of time if too many players are buying it. Just check the store tomorrow or a few days from now and the card should be back in stock.
Right, but I was suggesting a Neutral Ability card (something usable by any hero) that allows you to use some other Race/Class ability then your own at a high cost (perhaps an item that is discarded once used once). Hey, do the AI ever offer more than 100 xp and 20 gp bounties? I know the game's focus is on online mulitiplayer, but I sure hope the AI isn't only to train you on your first few levels.
Pretty sure it stays at 100 xp and 20 gp throughout. I only use it to try out new cards, but it's really barely useful for that. Hopefully, as AnAdolt said, they'll really remake it in the future at some point so there's something of a campaign involved that has stronger AI and better deck builds.
I was thinking the same. Plus I am finding beating elementals (at least with a Mage) not that easy. They have two damn cards I start to hate (kill friendly and recuperate health and steal the enemy allies). Any suggestions ?
If you play a multiplayer game, through the Quick Game button on the Challenge screen, and win against a player with 100 rating or higher, you will get double rewards. Regarding strategies and/or deck compositions, the Strategy forum is chalk full of discussions.. and debates ^^, so I'll leave players to explore that on their own ^^. You'd probably get away with just asking broad questions in the New Players forum too and people usually will reply and help out.
Figured I would give a bump to the most disappointing of the card games. It's disappointing not because it's the worst, but because it has the most wasted potential. Great art, good design. Unfortunately, the traditional deck building game needs way more cards to stay novel and interesting. Furthermore, when you depend on a sole developer, one man's folly can sink a beautiful project. Developing only for multiplayer and offering an unplayable multiplayer system buries shadow era amidst so many less impressive games.
It has been just over a month since we've released the new Rogue class and some of our long-time players are starting to get bored without new content. However, we are working hard on finishing up the first set and the next update is scheduled for the 30th of this month. After we complete the first card set, we do plan to release additional expansions that will bring not only more cards, but adding new features and gameplay modes to keep the game fresh, fun, and addictive enough that during beautiful summer days like these, you'd rather be indoors playing Shadow Era with air conditioning rather than enjoying the sun. We do greatly appreciate the fans that are patiently waiting for new content and we are trying to get new cards to our players as soon as possible.
Lately, I've realized that the greatest obstacle between me and Shadow Era is that I rarely have the time for a complete match, instead turning to asynchronous multiplayer games where I can enjoy player versus player games at my own sluggish pace Are there any plans to implement asynchronous matches with push notifications in Shadow Era? While I understand that this might go against some of the design philosophies of the game, it would make multiplayer SO much more accesible, fit really well within the framework of the game, and perhaps lure back players now lost to non-trading card but asynchronically enabled games such as Kard Combat and Ascension.
I really like this game, what i don't like is having to spend so much money for cards. I have spent $10 so far, now I wouldn't mind spending $20 total if I knew I would have every card I need (you can buy the new magic the gathering game friggin totally complete with every deck on steam for $25 btw) But that is just it, you can't just spend that much to get a good deck let alone several good decks, you'd have to spend quite a bit more, and still potentially not get what ya wanted, unless I am missing something? Anyway, so there it sits, and I will not spend another cent and will instead buy other games with that money. If they ever offered an all inclusive get whatever cards you wanted for $20 I'd most certainly play it. If I am wrong about this game and there is such a feature that I am missing please inform me, because I do love the game but not enough to spend the kind of money it takes to play online and be competitive.
@Ayjona Asynchronous mode was planned and is earmarked but it's hard to say at this point how soon we'll be seeing this. There are a few user-interface features we'd need to add first to make for better async games but personally, I would also like to play Shadow Era in async mode. @the9quad Currently, if you spend $20 and use it wisely, you would be able to 4 copies of almost all of the cards currently out. Really, all you need is perhaps $5 to build at least one competitive deck of the class of your liking. I would suggest visiting our Strategy forum for deck compositions and ways to keep a competitive edge. And check out rumsey's new player guide. There's also many free offers you do to earn Shadow Crystal as well. In the Merchant screen, just click on your Shadow Crystals in the bottom-left corner and then click on the Earn Crystals button. Regarding the Magic bundle on Steam, it does get you alot of cards but technically not all of them since Magic has over 10,000 ^^. The bundle does get you most, if not all of the cards for the expansion though.
I'm still hoping for an offline mode. I'm not online all the time. And currently the offline mode available is basically just practice mode. I would want to actually play the campaign offline. Any plans for it?
@thebleeptruth Once we've weaved more storytelling and missions into campaign mode, it should be able available for you to play in Offline Mode; although, Offline Mode and online play will still be seperated. @soldat7 Try restarting your iPad. If that doesn't do it, try removing and then reinstalling Shadow Era if that's the case. On the iPad, it should be using the high resolution assets. As opposed to say, a 2nd generation iPod Touch, where the assets are scaled down for better performance.
Thanks for responding. Hope it arrives soon. I'm not quite sure though what you mean by "Offline mode and online play will still be separated" other than you can't access multiplayer without being online. I guess the important aspect of offline mode ideally, which I'm hoping you have planned, is that you gain gold and experience from the missions in campaign mode.
