to the devs... offline ideas I live in the US, so I have not played this yet on my Ipod (or the browser version either seeing has how I just learned about it) but it looks like a great game. Can not wait to check it out. Like others on here, however, I too like to play most of my games offline. The addition of an offline line mode makes this game more appealing to me. An idea for the offline mode that I think would be great is to make it separate from the online. The offline would have all the cards avalible without having access to the interent but still have to be unlocked by buying buster packs with in game money. The cards unlocked in the offline, however, would not be saved to the online account and therefore not be able to be used in the online games, thus preventing cheating. This would allow those, like myself, who do not care about playing the game online, or are just not able to play it online all the time, to still enjoy the game against AI opponents and still be able to build up their deck - which is what makes these games so much fun imho. Just some thoughts on how you could proceed with the game. I look forward to checking it out when it goes live in my area.
Really looking forward to this. Will be staying up in the UK to buy it at midnight tonight. Looks like the sort of game I could sink hours in to and really enjoy.
To clarify connectivity requirements: 1. Currently you will need internet to launch the game. This is to download your cards from the server 2. You will need internet at the "world map", to get the current list of AI opponents for your level 3. During a game against AI, you will not need internet. You can lose internet and the game will still continue. It will try to connect to the server occasionally to update your status, but will not blow up if there is no internet 4. After the game, you will need internet to be rewarded gold and exp for the completed battle. If not, it will keep retrying to make sure you get the reward So it is fairly friendly to disconnects, or starting an AI match and then going offline. It's not like some other games that will kick you out to the login screen the moment it gets disconnected. However, obviously during multiplayer battles there is an inactivity timeout so the other guy is not waiting forever, but it also automatically retries the connection if you lose it for a bit. I'll confirm now that the next release will feature an offline mode to practice against the AI. This was always planned for, but it looks like there are a lot of requests for it so I'll give it higher priority.
Been playing the browser version lost both times but had fun doing it . Cant wait until midnight too have this on my Ipad
I just bought 2 packs of new cards and both times it said my new cards would be revealed below and it showed me a blank screen. It took my crystals and I assume gave me the cards but I would like to be able to see what I got.
How does this kill a multiplayer game in MTG? I'm just getting into it (while waiting for SE no less) and love it so far. I personally like the Duels artwork. One thing I definitely prefer is the glow for a card that is playable as opposed the odd grey snow/curtain effect in SE which I finally quite distracting because it's constantly moving.
Started playing, I've played 2 matches, been utterly crushed by the AI both times. Will keep trying at it though and hopefully I'll get the hang of things. It seems like a nice game. Do you get to play opponents online as well as AI?
the times when it won't show me the cards in the pack I just opened seem to be right after I open a premade deck Could be something else but both times it seems to have been after that. Also trap cards will not show what they are. When you try to look at them from the graveyard it shows the back of the card.
Since it is asked, I play this entirely on iPod Touch so offline mode is a must. I won't mind if offline play gets less/none rewards than the online counterpart.
During a duel last night against AI, my home WiFi signal suddenly dropped and when I won the game in the end, the client tried to established connection with the server, and all is well. I guess I was just lucky.
This game does not have a replay value. After 5 hours of playing, I am getting bored and sick of the game. The AI is still very hard. The only thing this app is worth is its online mode. I will now continue to wait for Orions 2
Enjoying this so far just won my first game after 3 attempts that was after clearing my deck and starting my own from scratch
If you want to get the hang of it, why don't you go and create a NZ or UK account? It is free anyway.
To players that have played games like Magic: The Gathering and such, like myself, matches against the AI are rather easy once you have a tweaked deck and figured out some strategies. With the right deck, players can beat the AI consistently by their 5th turn and games can end as fast as the 4th; clocking in as low as under 2 minutes per match. For those having problems beating the AI, if I may give a few suggestions that will hopefully help your games. Basically, there's alot of advantage to playing a ally("creature" in MtG terms) first and attacking first. Try to have this board advantage by ensuring your deck has 1/2 or more in allies. Your deck should have 4 Puwen Bloodhelm and 4 Blake Windrunner. Retreat is also a good card for a beginner deck and more advanced ones. Also, I'd recommend new players pick Eladwen Frostmire as your starting hero; currently, she's the best or tied at first place as a hero. For the first 5 turns, unless you know what you're doing, you should be sacrificing a card every turn to increase your resource limit. Hope that helps and let us know if you're still having problems. EDIT: Also, play against Ter Adun for awhile. The other AIs can be nastier until you have a decent deck and have a good handle on the game.
