Completely agreed. Thanks to it's jump to iOS, and it being attractively free, it's bringing in people both veterans and newbies to the genre. Well done man!
Lovin it lovin it lovin it!! Just a big thanks Kyle. Cant wait for the update and new cards. I'll buy 'em all and play it to death. Keep checking two or three times a day for any news of update. If its going to be another week or so then please put me out of my misery so I can stop checking all the time!! Anyway thank you for a great game that I'm sure has a great future ahead.
Maybe even later....this update IS huge. A bunch of awesome new cards that employ tons of new mechanics. Bugfixes. Standalone clients for windows and mac.
Before the update is out, I am suspending the dueling with other people then and stick with the AI for now.
It's been two weeks since the release of Shadow Era, and we're very pleased to announce that we have just crossed the 300,000 player mark! Next week we will expand our world domination efforts by releasing game clients for PC, Mac and Android, so get ready for some heated cross-platform multiplayer battles!
You had said that the updated iOS client would coincide with the Mac/PC release, is this still the case or are these now coming out ahead of the update? Q
I don't think it deserves TA attention yet, its not complete. As soon as the update, or all 200 cards are out maybe. All someone would have to do is look at the forums and see how incomplete it really is.
Funny thing, but we journalists rarely have the time to explore games as deeply as the actual players do, and thus we are prone to forming opinions from what is immediately available and obvious. And what is immediately available in Shadow Era looks great, plays well, and hints at a game with at least moderate depth. However, many of those who get past that first very impressive layer, seem to think that while the game is great, with a strong potential for brilliance, it is also very incomplete. After all, that is what Yeater42 said. Not that the game is anything but really good (he makes no judgement in that regard), just that it is indeed incomplete. And looking through these threads, as well as Shadow Era's forums, strongly supports that notion. Since the players are the ones who truly put the game's mechanics and content to the test, I'd take their word over my and my fellow journalists' any day.
Although I'm a newbie to CTG I'm 39 years old and have been playing video games since near the start. Not trying to say I'm particularly good at them or it's the be all and end all to life but ... Plenty of EXP at enjoying video games ! Anyway my point is, incomplete or not, this is a very fun game to play. Who cares what the media think, 300k people are obviously in agreement. Hope you get rich Kyle for bringing some joy for people
I will agree somewhat that the game is incomplete thus far. It is though, however, a launch title. EVen though all the cards may not be there, there is still tons going on for this game. It can only go up!
Yeah....honestly....this game wouldn't be worth reviewing until at least the upcoming update. I mean...for the game's own sake....it would benefit from a review after the update. For example, it would be suck to buy a booster and notice there are only 2 cards in the epic/rare pool you can get (boosters should've been held back from implementation until there was more). As for the news of 300,000 players -- congrats! -- but I feel like the dev is leaving his loyal customers out of the loop, since he doesn't copy any of the news he posts here to the SE blog!
It's a good game right now at least. Something to build on, and I'm sure there are quite a few have bought packs/decks so hopefully that will inspire the company to improve it. I'm still waiting for new computer enemies to beat up though.. The speed of PVP, as I said before, is excruciating.
Yeah I have straight up spent $5 on this game already, and plan on doing more when weaps are released. GOTTA CATCH EM ALL! or something like that.
This. I'm also still waiting for the update to arrive before buying any more boosters because of the meager selection of epic/rare cards (2!) in the game's current state.
The game will never be complete, that's the whole point... A free to play tcg with a constant steady stream of new cards.
