It's been totally ignored so far. Hell even Orions 2 got some front page love a couple weeks back and while I can't wait for that game to come out, the developers truly screwed their customers over with Orions 1 and yet TA still found the space to talk about their upcoming sequel (which to be fair is basically all the updates they promised to make to Orions 1 over 2 years ago! released as a new game instead!) So how come TA features O2, which still isn't out and doesn't have an official release date yet and ignores SE? It's frustrating to me and it's not even my game!
That wasn't the case for PC, was it? I think a lot of assumptions were made about updates equating to more cards, etc. The only updates I was looking for were to correct bugs, like the notorious phantom cast bug (now fixed). I think the answer is Chillingo. But you are right. Why SE has ZERO coverage is baffling.
You're totally right. It's been a while since I've played Magic, but I could have sworn the caster was damaged first in such a case (doesn't mean it isn't a better idea though). I got mixed up and thought we were talking about the card drawing issue where zugzwang is relevant, since using Supernova is nothing like forcing a stalemate in chess. It's more like having a Knight+Rook vs Rook and trading rooks to force a draw through insufficient material. Draws are innevitable in chess for that very reason. If an equal game gets played out to its final conclusion, neither side will have enough material to win. Though if you ask me, a lot of draws get agreed on way too early IMO. Draws are very much avoidable in a TCG such as this and there's really no reason to have them IMO. There is Zugzwang though (unless you have 7 cards in your hand) since drawing is not optional and you can take damage from it if your deck ran out, even if you pass immediately after. As for Supernova being cast in the middle of the battefield, sorry but I don't buy it . If you can choose where to cast it, you might as well cast it on top of the opponent and not take any damage Kidding aside, it's your game after all, I just wanted to bring this issues to your attention. Since you've already given them some thought, I'm satisfied. Even if I don't agree 100% with the way you handled them, I won't pester you again with them.
Think of Supernova like a nuclear bomb. You don't drop a nuke on your own head. You drop it in the center of enemy territory so it does it's max damage to the enemy. Sure, the blast radiates out from there and if your forces are inside the blast radius you're gonna get scorched too, but your enemy is definitely going to get hit first. But you can't avoid the fallout in such close quarters as an SE battlefield, so you're getting damaged too.
No, it wasn't. On Pocket PC they updated pretty regularly and each new edition was an EXPANSION to the previous game. But we can save this discussion for the O2 thread in the Upcoming Games section
It feels like it's been months just because I'm so excited about the first update landing, so I actually went back to check that I wasn't hallucinating that Kyle had said it would be submitted by now. Unfortunately the quote above (posted feb26) confirms that the update would have been submitted on 1-2 March, in which case Kyle would have presumably have confirmed the fact in this thread by now. Obviously there are lots of good reasons for missing a deadline. If it's not ready it's not ready, and we'll keep pestering him for timelines regardless, so he can either say nothing or give us dates that are largely hope rather than fact. Good luck with the ongoing development Kyle! I hope we can get the update soon because more and more of the bugs are becomming known factors when I play and a tragically large amount of them motivate me to use my Frostmire deck exclusively :S FWIW please try to get the release out with bugfixes as soon as possible. If there are any new features holding it back please just remove them and submit only the fixes/features that already work well. We need those bugs fixed before we need anything else, and having some of the more common/awful things fixed (esp. timing counters and having some weapons for hunters) would make the game a lot more playable.
Looks good. I honestly think that TA will do it after the 1st update once all things are addressed/added. I'd honestly rather them do it then as well because it will leave little room for any possible error Kyle is currently addressing. I would also go as far to say that if any of the TA reviewers are reading these...it's probably irritating them hearing us continually ask for a/the front page review. This is how I see it at least because SE is definitely a great game that shouldn't be slept on. HERE'S TO KEEPING THE THREAD ALIVE IN THE MEANTIME IN BETWEEN TIME!
As a side note in a private email conversation with one of the mods, I mentioned how many people were disappointed with TA and the lack of coverage of this game. His response was no response. Not only are they silent about coverage they remain so even when asked directly about it. Maybe a new card can be designed around this. Touch arcade conspirator (shadow mage) - resource cost: 1 - attack:0. Defense: 100 As long as conspirator is in play, it rains and no allies can attack. Flavor text: "We keep knocking at his door to say 'enough already', but nobody's home."
@Shatner's hairpiece Hahaha, I like that card. Not really fond of the flavour text though; in disagreement with inclusion of the word "plead". I think few people are pleading at this point.
This game does deserve TA coverage. If it's constantly bumped like at the moment then the discrepancy will become more and more apparent. The game is super addictive and a joy to play. Maybe this controversy will benefit sales anyway ? Anyway thanks Kyle for bringing so much fun into my life recently. I've never played a TCG before but I'm loving it.
hahahaha perfect! But yeah TA has been utterly silent on this matter, and it doesn't quite make a whole lot of sense as to why... Guess we may never know. Here's hoping they are just waiting till the next update, though I am not holding my breath. The great thing is, I know about this game and didn't need a front page review to get into it. I would still like all the more merrier players involved though.
I *LOVE* that Shadow Era seems to be bringing lots of TCG/CCG newbies into the addiction! Great work Kyle in getting people OUTSIDE the genre to take a step inside! Q
