You can try to go to http://unity3d.com/webplayer/ and download the Unity webplayer from there and reinstall it.
What OS and browser are you using?

Windows XP & FIREFOX [edited - why did I say Safari?!]. There's gotta be thousands who have the same. Btw, the redirect takes you to the unity site anyway, and I have dl'd it directly from their site as well but it's the same old story. I enter user name and pw and am asked to dl it again.

Do I have the correct folders/files installed?

    prefshadowera117_2eunity3d.upp is only 1kb.

Are you using Private Browsing mode or whatever it's called in Safari that basically maintains a blank slate state in the browser? Do you have some kind of security software in place that could be interfering with the proper installation of the unity player? Just a couple thoughts...

I would not comment on why in the 'verse TA says nothing about SE when many other sites are rave about this. We come to here to talk about the game we love, I guess as long as TA admin does not close this, this is all I care for now.

    Back to business:

I caught in the Eladwen madness too and this is my first attempt to work out a custom deck. Your comment, bash and suggestions are welecomed.

"Deep-fried Meatbag" aka "CM goes to Build a Deck"

    Eladwen x1 (almost forgot this!!!)
    Dirk Saber x2
    Sandra Trueblad x2
    Puwen Bloodhelm x3
    Blake Windrunner x3
    Aldon the Brave x1
    Fireball x4
    Poison Gas x1
    Lightning Strike x1
    Engulfing Flames x2
    Arcane Burst x2
    Clinging Webs x3
    Special Delivery x 2
    Rain Delay x2
    Extra Sharp x2
    Bad Santa x1

So far, it seems to work quite well against human warriors, human mages, undead, wolfs, human rangers and marginally against shadow warriors. No idea how they could work on priests and elementals.

Anyone can easily note that I put a lot of emphasis on fire/direct damage cards and skip all items cards due to the inherited weakness against Shadow Warrior class who eliminates items in a blow. Instead, I rely more on secondary effects (Extra Sharp, Aldon the Brave, etc) without placing anything on the item slot. (Yes, no Portal) And I am expecting some complaints about the price/performance ratio of the fireball card.

Also, I tends to keep the deck size small so that my direct hit "weapons" are more likely to appear -- I manage to avoid being harmed by Aeon Stormcaller twice (!!) cause I am lucky to have one or two fireball cards handy and once after this card appears, it is sent straight to the graveyard....

Allies, otherwise known as meatbags, are normally used as resources or organic shields depending on the type of player/class I am dueling against. There are duels that there is not a single ally being placed on my side. Delay cards are also important especially when facing a large gang and my area effect cards are no where in sight (think of them as the map weapons in SRW)

Bad Santa also plays a key role to deal with the issue on running low on cards. When I notice that I cannot cast two Engulfing Flames onto the same target, I am considering replacing this with either another fireball (sweet), Bad Santa, or may be Lightning Strike.

I am stupid with the Shadow Era blog account and I may place this later there. Time for bed.

Firts I'd like to congratulate Kyle for bringing a TCG into my ipod. I only signed up for this account in TouchArcade to tell you that. :) The art on the cards are just beautiful! It's easy to understand (probably because I play MTG). And I've already bought shadow crystals and ready to buy more as soon as new cards that will help my deck start coming in. This is really addicting and I have forgotten all the other games in my ipod.

p.s. I have an Eladwen killer deck :p Sometimes just 5 minutes into the game, my Eladwen opponents usually quit. hehe

I'm currently racking consecutive wins using the following cookie-cutter-soon-to-be-nerfed Eladwen Deck:

    1 Eladwen

    3 Jasmine
    4 Sandra
    4 Puwen
    4 Blake
    2 Aldon
    4 Aeon
    4 Fireball
    4 Lightning Strike
    4 Research
    2 Portal
    1 Supernova
    2 Retreat

I'm thinking of adding 2 Retreat to recycle Sandra, giving me a total of 8 opportunities to destroy the opponents resources :p

Even so, Firefox also has private browsing which could be interfering with the unity plugin installation. Or you could have plugins disabled. Or some other browser setting getting in the way. The point is, check out your browser's settings. Clear your caches. Make sure you aren't using private browsing mode and are allowing plugins. Etc.

so i started out doing only ai, and then started doing multiplayer. I have to say, it sucks when the opponent takes like5 minutes to decide which card to sac... I'm only level 3 and can already decide easily which card to sac... I'm using a starter nishaven deck with 2 added portals and I have won 3 in a row and during my first game, the other person dropped when I was winning.. and had the next couple turns planned. Its really easy to get a portal and just spam allies. Ill get poison gas and flames out there asap. Also, with nishaven, its easy to turn the game around. If they are destroying me with their allies, I just use the ability, spawn some of my own allies, attack and bam! I have the advantage.

Sorry for ranting guys... i still havent faced edalwen, and I have a feeling that by the time i do, it will be nerfed :D
btw, what starter deck would u guys recommend I get?

Yup. Done it all. Meanwhile, I played the beta online, so this really irks me. Won't even work with Safari, which I almost never use.

If it's happening in multiple browsers it's probably a system-wide problem with your PC or there is something actively blocking unity in some way. It's not a problem with SE or with Unity player directly from everything you've said, it's a problem with your system or network. Check things like firewalls and your permissions.

I tried it on Windows XP with IE, FireFox, and Safari but everything was working fine.

If there is a problem, you will want to remove Unity first.

    Close all browsers
Start menu->Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs
    select Unity Web Player
    Click Remove

Visit http://www.unity3d.com/webplayer directly and install the web player.
    After it installs, try http://game.shadowera.com

Actually the current version doesn't display your chosen player name anywhere in the game. Oops! The next version will show it in the status screen as well as the in-game gui.

Please email [email protected] if you want to check or change your player name.

I need help and have no idea how to find it. I had more fun tonight listening to my wife criticize me about spending too much time at my computer than I had trying to play this game. I just can't believe that this is a bad/unfun game, as I love Wesnoth and associate Kyle with good stuff.

Clearly, the problem is me, but I can't figure out how to fix me.I have never played a CCG before, and only know a little about them from having read a small amount about a few. Probably the closest I've ever come is playing the Etherlords games (which I enjoyed, but which seem tremendously different than Shadow Era), and I think that's the closest only because I remember reading reviews about those games which compared them to CCGs.

I downloaded and "played" Shadow Era the morning after it hit the store. I understood almost nothing from the tutorial, and lost the tutorial battle with only 2 attacks on the enemy in the entire fight. I put the game aside for a week because I just didn't have time to come back and try to grok it until tonight. So I played again tonight, thinking I could run the tutorial again. But there was no way to run the tutorial again that I could find, so I just tapped cards and tried to watch what changed on screen. After losing again with only a single attack on the enemy, I got online to find out how to reset the game. Finally found that there is a menu, which intentionally or unintentionally is hidden by a menu selector which is almost exactly the same color and design style as the background. On the options section, I find a reset game help which I choose in hopes of getting a tutorial. Starting my first fight again, I have to go through a fight without any help showing up. WTF?

Finally, I quit the game and fully reboot my iPod. I then start the game and do a fight. Still no tutorial. I go back into options and tap reset help text 8 times (no reason for 8, just kept hitting it and counted that I hit it 8 times). Now when I play, I get the tutorial. Turns out after playing a few times without understanding, the tutorial is still useless for me. I searched online for a Shadow Era tutorial, but the only one I found was a non-tutorial on the Shadow Era forums which says pretty much the same stuff I read in the tutorial in a manner which helps me play the game no better than the tutorial did.

Do I have to go to the official forums for help, or can someone here point me towards something that will help me understand what I'm doing? I can't figure out much of anything about this game. Why in my last battle did I have to sacrifice through four rounds before I could play a card, while my opponent was able to put a card into play on the first round? How many resources does it take to play a card and how did the opponent get that many after one sacrifice?

My current round has a card called crippling blow which is described as "Ongoing: Target ally is reduced to 0 base attack." Why would I want an ally to have a zero attack? Every other card which mentions ally attack numbers has some additive value to ally attack. In every game I can recall playing which had some kind of attack number, you wanted that number to be non-zero, so I don't know why I would want to make one of my allies zero now, and what is their attack if I don't play this card? Now that my resources section on screen says 5/5, why do I have 2 cards playable in the action turn but the 3rd isn't?

Please, someone give me a link or a video or a write-up here that explains this in a way a 100% CCG neophyte can figure it out. I want to spend my money on this game. I have wanted to get into CCGs forever, but have never known a single person who played them that I find time to play against and learn, so an only capable CCG seems really perfect for me. But I'm not going to play online until I at least have an understanding of a little about the game. 30+ years of gaming, and I've never felt so in the dark as I do with Shadow Era. Even if it's just a post earlier in the thread. I have read probably 100-120 replies here, but I haven't been able to find a response in the 800+ that helps me.

Watching a video is a lot easier to understand things if you're new to CCGs. One of our players did this tutorial video that should get you started:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKyJ4wBEIn8

The next release is a lotttt easier for new players and also has a built-in contextual help system.
