I've only lost signal in games against the AI, but when I returned, there lost match was nowhere in sight. No harm done. Also curious how it affects duels.
Game Impressions iOS client impressions: Very much the same as my impressions of the browser game, as the two are extremely similar in UI, graphics, etc. And I must say I find this to be a very good thing. A near-uniform UI over both platforms is a great thing. It does make a few things hard to see and select (as the interface is essentially a minimized version of what you see in the browser), such as the main meny, which is positively tiny, so perhaps a few instances of zoomed-in information and HUD elements would be nice (such as always having your resources and card count visible, regardless of camera mode, something I'd like in the browser client as well, but that is more essential in the iOS client). It is also possible the card texts might be a bit hard to read for people with weak eyesight, as my eyes find them a bit small already. The client probably could benefit a lot from some touch-specific mechanics (currently, the client is not swipe-, pinch-, etc-friendly, and unfortunately does not make use of the iOS control paradigm at all. It supports normal touches, similar to the mouse clicks in the browser client, for selection). Examples would be displaying all your cards in the Sacrifice phase and the Deck building interface in a zoomed-in but swipeable view, instead of a long row of stacked cards with tiny images and imperceptible text. But in general, the iOS client is just as gorgeous and nearly as accessible as the browser client. It connects really fast, loads *a lot* faster than the browser client, has Game Center support, multitasks well (keep the connection alive for shorter periods of time), and just feels very professional in general. Loves it.
Looks freaking amazing. About time there's an amazing TCG game on iOS. Been waiting for this one. I really hope sales go well man.
You know, a lot of people are going to complain about this, but I'm going to give you my thanks instead. It sucks playing an online game where people can easily cheat, especially if the game's revenue revolves around micropayments.
An offline mode (albeit possibly a restricted one) can be added without compromising the security of the online accounts. That said, I've absolutely no issue with the online requirements. I'm guessing it is mostly bothersome to iPod and non-3G iPad owners.
A bit of warning: Jericho Spellbane's ability does not currently work for friendly targets, so be careful when choosing him as a hero. If we go by the text on the card, his ability should work for ALL targets, so it is most probably a bug.
I am so glad a TCG for iOS of this caliber is around now. Will be awesome to pick up and play with. I've been fiending for a good one. Hope sales do go great for you! Would love to see the goods in the future and future card sets!
C'mon Kyle... Spill the beans about intermittent network connectivity and whether IAP's are transferable between devices... These are the two big questions outstanding I think? BTW it looks absolutely stunning - I really want this to be good! Jamie
couldnt resist anymore. made a New Zealand account and 3 minutes of download to go Anyone here know if I will have to redownload it when it gets to my region and if I can make IAP's with this version?
As far as I can see, no, as the login screen is the first thing that comes up, and trying to access the game without an active connection does not provide any offline functionality.
I'm very interested in this game Kyle, for one Battle of Wesnoth is one of my favorite games, amazing especially with all the updates so this is an instant purchase for me. I just wanted a few questions answered not sure if they were adressed. 1. Could you unlock all cards without IAP? (not cheap, just wondering if that's an option) 2. Do they have a campaign or offline mode incoming? 3. How many booster packs total, and their price I want all the cards lol? 4. Are the battles just cards or any battle animation from The cards? Thanks in advance I know this game will be amazing waiting for it to come to US.
I can answer your questions. 1. Yes 2. Not that I can see of. When you start the app, they ask you to login into their server. This is necessary so your cards can be downloaded to your account and allows for crass-platform play. 3. You cannot directly buy booster packs. I attached screenshots of the booster packs. 4. No animation.
3. You can buy boosters packs directly. 4. There is actually some few animations during battles, though not directly from the cards (so Epox is right in that regard). Attacking an enemy produces a swing of an animated sword or a claw, etc. Small stuff like that. Still very much a battle of unmoving cards, though.
You can booster packs with the coins yeah, I thought he meant directly from IAP. I dont really count that as animation lol. But technically yeah. Does anyone want a gameplay video of a battle?
Ah, now I see what you mean ANd yes, the animations are barely animations Though I do believe they add at least a little variation and sense of motion to the attacks. A (possibly useful) advice: once the animations and the card motions start to become repetitive, upping the speed of the game (rom the options panel) helps speed up the battles.
ok, im in the middle of my first match against the AI and as I suspected, really enjoying the game! however, the AI did something a little strange and I wanted to check if anyone knew why it did this. Basically the enemy Hero is Ter Adun and it cast the card Blood Frenzy on itself. Im not sure, but it appears to be taking one lifepoint off the hero at every round. Is there a benefit to doing this? thanks in advance on any response (i dont mind really cos it's like the enemy hero is being nibbled to death! Edit: NVM, just recieved the card in my hand and saw that it means he gets an extra card per turn. Is there a way to view cards from underneath a hero, tapping on it didnt seem to make any difference?
