Just wanted to check if im missreading the text on a card. The "spark" ally says: "gains +1 attack and +1 health for every other spark in play". Does this include sparks on both sides if it's elemental vs elemental? I just played a game like this multiplayer and we both had sparks in play (one each), but neither seemed to get the +1s. Cheers for any advice, loving the game.
No, the Spark effect is only intended to apply to your own Sparks. But actually that's a very interesting idea, an elemental vs elemental match could be very interesting... Anybody else think it should work that way? Or else I will clarify the text for the next release.
I think that if the text says "For each Spark in play"... it should mean for any Spark, be it on your side or not. Would make things a little more interesting in a Elemental vs Elemental match hahaha.
Nope. It would make the game then reliant on whichever side had more Sparks. However, I was curious if there was any storyline or main characters for Shadow Era? I vividly remember Magic the Gathering having many underlying storylines hinted at in the bottom of the cards. Also, do you have any plans for perhaps a "divine" class in the game. The Angels and Akroma were my units. Or a antithesis to Akroma like Phage. Also, any plans to update Battle for Wesnoth?
I gotta agree with Kunning on the Sparks. As nice as it sounds, it would make the majority of elemental vs. elemental too reliant on spark usage(i.e. little to know strategy needed). @Kunning Kyle had a small list going of things that will be in the next Wesnoth update in the thread. Iirc some of what was(but dont hold me to it) confirmed was GC support, Retina Display, and a new campaign which is one of my favorites. Sorry if it's off topic Kyle but any time-frame on the Wesnoth update?
This is how I always interpreted it (I don't have an elemental deck, so I've never seen it in practice). I don't see a downside.
So yeah, my interpretation of this card was ALL Sparks in play were factored in, and that it wasn't ONLY your own Sparks. Either the wording on the card should change to reflect it being only your own Sparks "Spark gains +1 attack and +1 health for every other Spark in play" clearly states it's for EVERY Spark in play, not only yours. And I believe this approach balances things out if it's Elemental vs. Elemental because it makes all Sparks equal for both sides. If it's to truly be only Sparks on the controlling player's side, the wording should probably be something like: "Spark gains +1 attack and +1 health for every other Spark in play under your control" (which addresses Mind Controlled Sparks as well). Just my $.02! Q
I'm glad my question "sparked" some debate......... Oh dear Anyway, I love these sort of Grognardian semantic debates within TCGs, personally I think all in play should apply to all in play, but I wouldn't be massively agains the other interpretation, especially with mind control factored in as Quorlan succinctly put it. Also, RE: Mage deck overpowered, I am having 50/50 success online vs mages with an embryonic (I.e not yet perfected) Elemental swarm/aggro type deck (hence my interest in sparks) This game is excellent and I am currently playing it rather than seeing patients in work!
The all sparks would be interesting but would also be devastating. Maybe have another card with higher cost that would take account of sparks on either side?
A huge furthermore: currently, once you begin constructing a new deck, the old one just dissipates and scatters to the winds, making it all the more cumbersome to go back to it to add cards, adjust, etc. There REALLY should be a way to save a current deck and ARCHIVE it, so you can easily come back to it. I am playing a Shadow deck right now that I like a lot and would love to put together an Elemental deck (which will cost me money). I would pay the money but honestly, I don't want to have to go through the process of reconstructing the Shadow deck when I eventually want to return to it. My Magic decks are all neatly placed in boxes. So should my SE decks. ARCHIVE DECKS PLEASE.
If you hit Load on a saved deck, it shows all of the Heroes you made a deck for. Unfortunately you cannot save multiple decks for one hero(or Heroine) but you can save and archive a deck per hero owned.
Saving a deck for each hero right now is great (although slightly unclear for new players). I'd love to have multiple decks saved for each hero...hopefully this is something that can be added for the future.
These saved decks, what happens to them when you sell cards to the merchant which were in that deck? I started with a warrior deck, but once it became clear I was getting nowhere with that I sold pretty much all the common warrior cards to finance the elemental deck, so I guess any changes to my old deck mean that's now destroyed?
Sorry if the deck saving was unclear... I mean, you obviously clicked on the save button. But you couldn't figure out what the Load button was for? Okay just kidding, luckily the next release has a full in game help system and FAQ, and I'll add a popup help box the first time you go to a screen, although nobody ever reads those... @scarypharaoh: You will get a warning if you are missing some cards, and the deck will not be made active yet
Thats my only real issue when I balance out my cards. I have to switch out my Human Deck to see my actual inventory of what I can and can't sell. Same goes for if I want to sell a shadow, wulven, elemental, etc. I don't like that I have to constantly switch deck hands and keep mental notes of what cards I have more than 4 of to sell(learned I had to do that the hard way too) but thats how I was able to maximize my gold as well as keep my cards organized to 4 max of that given card. It could be as simple as when you go to buy/sell for your current hand to automatically not be taken account for or clear itself so you get a real-time count of your inventory. Or is there something I'm not seeing?
Like, say, a SAVE BUTTON? I do agree, however, that some of the interface choices need to be improved upon.
Thanks, Kyle. I used to write rules freelance on assignment for board game companies at one time. I was told to write for idiots. Load? What does load mean? Yes, I am an idiot. Help and FAQs are a good thing.
Here's a balance issue I noticed today. This helps highlight how unbalanced Eladwen Frostwire is. Compare these two cards: Eladwen can, every third turn, deal four damage to an ally. Bonecrusher, on the other hand, can kill an ally with cost 4 or less, every fourth turn. What this means is that not only is Bonecrushers ability SLOWER, there's a whole slew of allies that fall out of his range. Meanwhile, Eladwen can target any allies, regardless of casting cost. Here's a practical example: you have a Plasma Behemoth out? Bonecrusher's SOL. But Eladwen hits him for 4 and a Fire Snake can finish him off. Not to mention, dealing 4 damage to ANYTHING is better than killing anything that costs 4 or less 99% of the time anyway. Aeon Stormcaller, I'm looking at you!
