Looks amazing - but do I have to be on-line even when playing against AI on my device? Or is it possible to just go on-line from time to time, to have everything recorded. TIA.

Class decks (32 common cards) and booster packs (15 cards, some random uncommon and rares) both cost 100 Shadow Crystals, which is about $1. Or you can purchase singles using in-game gold that you win from battles. Shadow Era is already known as the most affordable online TCG ;)

You do have to be online to earn gold and experience from AI battles. In the future we will be adding an offline mode, but you still won't earn anything from offline play because it is too easy for people to cheat.

it there bonus if you buy crystals with iap, like on your site?

anyway some suggestions, so far the game is interesting and i am ready to buy packs from time to time. however the game needs improvements.

    1. ingame chat
    2. possibility to create game and to choose opponent.
    3. save decks, every time if you change the deck you need to put all cards in the deck again. it's inconvenient.
    4. more cards, so far there are not really a lot of possibilities for deck design.
    5. shortcuts, like all allies attack enemy hero.
    6. art, some human proportions looks kinda strange, especially females.

Makes sense. That offline practice mode would be nice, though, to be able to play in transit.

So should we start a new "strategy/decklist thread", or does this thread serve that purpose? I know I love discussing the fine details of cardgames. :-D

I would go to the games forum for this. That way it is all in one place...

Just won my first game against the AI. As a total noob to the card game scene, I would have appreciated more of a tutorial, but it says something about the overall game design that by my second game I had already "got it." Can't speak about how it compares to other card games. I did find the iOS implementation to be top notch (though it could use more sound effects). The game seems to have plenty of depth while still remaining accesible on an iPhone screen. I poked around a bit in the multiplayer area and there seem to be plenty of players.

Seems easy to recommend. And, of course, the price doesn't suck ;).

The bonus Shadow Crystals are the same whether from IAP or from the web version of the game.

    1. Should be coming in another few weeks
    2. More multiplayer options are coming in the next update
    3. Currently it has one save slot for each Hero, that's what the Load button is for. For tweaking a deck, you can click on the card in the upper panel to have the option to remove it from your deck.
    4. New cards are being added in each update. The next one will be a biggie with about 25 new cards including
    5. That has been requested a lot, it should be going into the next update
    6. You are staring at the females to much :D

Basically this is the first of many releases, the game is under heavy development and we are planning for biweekly updates. We welcome all comments like this as it really helps to make a better game!

graphics are crisp, they look amazing. thumbs kyle, glad to hear about biweekly updates.
As for the tutorial, squarezero was right. Tutorial was kinda hard, I would have preferred to watch a sample game.

So if I only plan on playing offline by myself then this game isn't for me. I really wish games like this didn't have to be online only.

Played for a while and it's good for the most part. The card graphics are slightly blurry on the iPad, not horrible, but noticeable. The music fits the game, but it gets old fast. Controls work well, just simple tapping. It's pretty easy to get into it, even if you don't have much card game experience. The battles are a little too long to hold me though, but I'm sure I'll be in the minority on that. The portability is a great feature, but for me, part of the fun of these types of games was actually having and collecting cards or pieces. But I've never really been a fan of IAPs. Kinda misleading to call it freemium though, from what I've seen.

Obviously pick it up when it releases and try for yourself since it's free.

Sneaked into my NZ account and get it just to see the hang of it. The icon is okay, load time very small and just created an account. Since I am a noob so I would keep my account name a secret for now (but it is too easy to guess). Really want to try the first duel but life catches on me...

Check out the official site for more later on.

Why not what? I enjoy playing games by myself offline and from what I have been hearing this game requires you to play online in order to get more cards/money.
