can also go the positive reinforcement route and give people a nominal exp/gold reward for completing the game, even if they lose. usually comes with mixed results and isn't easy to balance, though. as a side effect, it would make novices like me more inclined to play online if i knew i'd get something out of getting continually crushed, though.
7 games and no lost games yet - this game is too easy for me xD But I don't like how little gold we get per fight :/ An offline mode with a very fast gold and crystal gain rate would be superb if you couldn't transfer this stuff onto the online version of the game. It would help you put more time into the game and help you feel more motivated to actually play (As I feel I am putting a lot of time into the game but not getting much back... A victory gets you 20 gold but some cards cost 600 gold!!) So I vote for offline, with better gameplay! (Even if you have to charge 59p for the game afterwards...)
For the people complaing about opponents quitting before they actually lose... WTF is wrong with you? It's obvious you have never been to a TCG tournament or official event (Hate to sound like a yuppie about it) but there are times I have played against people who have quit right when they lose board control. They know they are going to lose if you know what kind of deck your opponent is going to play against you. And I too have bowed out of some games before I lose. It's a waste of time to keep going, you already know the outcome of the battle. "All Battles are won and lost before they even begin" - Sun Tzu. It's ok to just give up.. fight another day. And if you are the person they are playing against and they give up, that's a win right there for you... Anyways I just wanted to chip in with my 2 cents there. Sorry to sound like a dick. LOL
I agree in both cases. The rewards vs time commitment are very small. And the AI is pretty easy. After starting, I haven't lost yet, with about a dozen or so straight wins. Unmodified starter set too. Your talking about surrendering, which would still count as a win on tournament rankings. He's talking about people that force quit the app and disqualify the game, even though he was winning.
I don't think it was the quitting which was the problem it was the fact if they quit really early you don't get the XP etc
oooooooooooooooooooooo, yeah that is bullshit LOL. Sorry I misread, guess I should have taken the time to read some more. MY BAD! Edit: I would also like to add my voice to the "Not enough reward for time invested" kind of thing. I mean I understand if you don't want us to get there so fast, but at least increase it gradually. That's how I thought it was going to be, but hitting level 4, there is still no difference sooooo.... yeah. I want to spend a lot of time on this game but I also want to be rewarded a tad bit more for it. Outstanding game otherwise guys. Edit 2: Also this game reminds me a lot less of MtG and a lot more like the WoW TCG. Just saying... It's not a bad thing though, as the WoW TCG was my favourite TCG of all the ones I have ever played, and I have played a lot.
forgive me (again), as i'm sure this has already been asked, but there is no way to change your starter deck once you've chosen it, other than to start a new account, correct? i picked the mage deck, but it seems too fragile for my meager skills.
If you picked Aladwin Frostmire, you picked a hero with a great board control ability. It's what I use and has yet to fail me. The other guy though has a pretty devestating ability. Can't wait for more cards to come out. Anyways, to answer your question, no there is no way to change your deck besides buying one with Shadow Crystals.
thanks. mostly i'm worried about comparatively low hp. and i'm taking on one of the early warrior AI decks and it threw +10 hp and +1 to all allies attack cards out at me. i wouldn't mind having those... my guess is that i'll get used to the mage glass cannon style. i've always preferred it. perhaps i'm just bitter because i can't have everything
@n8equalsd Last I heard it was about a week and a half before the next version comes out that will address the memory issue with 2nd gen. iDevices. Until then, I guess play the web version and wait for the PC/Mac dedicated version to come out. @FictionalCharacter Reset here: http://www.shadowera.com/support.php. Please read the instructions carefully and unerstand what resetting will do. But as mentioned, if you picked Eladwen Frostmire, this is actually the recommended hero for new players.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought in the beta there was a way to look at cards attached to allies (maybe I'm thinking of MTG: DotP though)? I can't seem to be able to do this now, and you really should be able to. Also, why is it I can't have more than one of the same item card out? For example, War Banner. Another thing - it seems odd that the enemies reappear in new places on the map every time I go to the map screen - makes it feel like the map background is meaningless (not that it really seems to have much bearing on the game anyway). Finally, I know weapons/armor are coming out in the next update and that you can reset your account if needed, but I think something should have been done about the heroes that rely on weapons for their abilities - like a warning message when selecting one of them that says "Weapons are not currently in the game - they will be in the next update, but be warned that you will not be able to take advantage of this hero's ability until that time".
I got back into SE when v1.17 came out and since then, there wasn't a way to view attached cards. The GUI is being developed for it and should be coming soon though. Cards like War Banner are either class ability or class item cards and only one instance of it can be in play by a single player. War Banner used to be a Class Ability but was changed to a Warrior Item a few updates back and this was to allow it to be destroyed through item destruction effects but keep the rule that only 1 can be in play for each player. I think they change locations like that because it'll make more sense once campaigns are implemented.
This thread runs faster than I can catch up, good. I have very limited MtG experience, but I like the simplified mechanism as it goes faster and more flexible with handling the "resource" cards. There is always an issue when the losing side quit, especially when reward is concerned. As it is hard to differentiate between poor conn with deliberate quitting, a fair mechanism should be there to be fair for both sides. I don't think the AI is too weak (may be I was just weak), they are good enough for new players and I would say at least one should be retained for some early levels for testing out decks and so on. As for the interface, I would say: Bigger menu. It is kinda on the smallish side, especially on iPod Touch. I think the menu does not have to be limited to one line. Slightly bigger cards. I really want to appreciate the artwork and they can be a bit bigger. (AA issue has been mentioned) Flipping through the cards ("Cover Flow" if you prefer) on the Deck Manager would be nice as mentioned, but I think this can also be applied to Item/Ally screen also.
The AI on this game can be absolutely infuriating. OK, so I admit, sometimes it is my strategy that causes me to lose, but other times, where the enemy hero gets a +10 HP followed by one of the cards that prevents my sole surviving ally from attacking is so irritating and seems unfair. This happens regularly as well. It then feels like it's down to luck whether you win against the AI or not, and when I tried to equip the +10 HP to my deck, it wasn't compatible with it or something, despite giving no notification in the store when I purchased it. I have been really enjoying the game, but these last couple of matches I've played have been highly irritating.
Why did the hunter get such gimped abilities. Others get multiple damage, or constant damage to hero or something useful. I get see your next card. That's not helpful at all. The stop hero attack is good and that's about.
@kingkong120 If you wanted to start out with a new hero deck, you may reset your account on this page: http://www.shadowera.com/support.php. If you're trying to create a new deck, read on. The area for the "Hide Unusable" button on the iOS version was too big and covers up the clear button. What you're able to do on the web version is click on the Clear button and then drag the hero you want and create your deck. The fix for the Hide Unusable button will be in the next update but for now, you can still create a new deck using another hero. To do this, tap on the hero card in your selected deck, once it zooms in a Remove button will appear and then you'll be able to draft a deck as normal. @walsh06 Yeah, the Hunter class is pretty gimped at the moment but armours and weapons coming out in the next update should give them more screen time.
