Hiya community A number of years ago I got some great reviews from Touch Arcade on my game series "They Need To Be Fed". That was a bouncy action platformer. My latest release is very different though. Seven Scrolls is a turn based strategy puzzle game. It uses a modular spell system that results in a different experience each time you play. If that sounds like something you'd enjoy please have a look! https://apps.apple.com/us/app/seven-scrolls/id1484807406?mt=8 Seven Scrolls Jesse Venbrux Play a Monk fighting with his Demons in this turn-based strategy puzzler! The Basics ======== Move in 1 of 4 directions, shoot beams and kill Monsters. Collect the Key to gain access to the next floor. However, that's not enough to survive... An intricate system of Spells ==================== Collect up to 7 scrolls, each with a unique combination of symbols. Scrolls are triggered by actions in the game, as indicated by the first symbol (the "trigger"). They can affect either the Monk or one of the Monsters. When grabbing a scroll the meaning is explained, and you can always tap on them at any time in case you forgot. Ever changing play sessions ==================== No play session is the same! Stages are always different, and the amount of combinations of Spells is close to endless. Survive long enough and you'll encounter some new Monsters and Items as well! Consider various strategies ==================== Although scrolls can be triggered during normal play, they can also be used directly by pressing the Targeting Button. The caveat is that this removes the scroll after use, but this can be useful to make space for new ones. This gives you a lot of options to consider with each move! Languages ======== English Japanese (日本語で遊べます) Spanish (jugar en español) German (auf Deutsch spielbar) Features & more ============ • Simple swipe controls • Eerie ambience sound effects by Jake Almond • Collect symbols and earn medals • Progress is saved automatically • Enjoy! Very cool that you were inspired by Brough, though.... it's.... I dunno what to say about my thoughts right this second. It looks more like a clone than something inspired by.... just hoping it play quite a bit differently is all, I guess (I don't mean I'm expecting you to be able to jump across the board and turn 3D or anything - more asking about the mechanics/scoring/spells....) =P 2Dcube Member Feb 9, 2011 16 2 3 #10 2Dcube, Mar 12, 2020 Michael Brough is mentioned in the intro for inspiration. I regret that the visual style became too similar.. The rules are partly inspired by his work but at its core it's a unique idea and it plays quite differently. I like how this review put it: "Seven Scrolls feels like a love letter to Michael Brough's games. At the same time, it is built around a unique core that is more accessible than the titles that inspired it." The core idea being spells are if->then statements that change the rules of the game. From an Apple email: "Chinese law requires games to secure an approval number from the General Administration of Press and Publication of China." Anywho, I think it’s a great game that nails the “one more go”feeling really well. , Guise Well-Known Member Jul 10, 2009 2,027 14 38 #17 Guise, Mar 26, 2020 Only just got this but am liking it a lot so far. My one suggestion/request would be online leaderboards, whether Game Center or otherwise. One of the (many) amazing things about Michael Brough's games is the integration of Game Center within the games themselves, where you can easily see high scores as well as more granular info (like spells/weapons used, level reached, cause of death, etc.). Not suggesting a need for anything so robust but would love to see how my high score stacked up against others in the world. Anyway, looking forward to playing this a lot more and experimenting with strategies. Keep up the great work, 2Dcube. And wow, it might end up as one of my year‘s favs as well. I clearly think that it‘s neither "inspired by" nor a "love letter" to but simply a blatant style ripoff of Michael Brough‘s games. Also roughly reminicent of Cinco Paus in terms of gameplay / board design, but the gameplay holds up as strongly unique. I‘d looove to see it having a different art style, yet it‘s so wildly entertaining and surprising that I cannot put it down. Stunning little gem and extremely under the radar.
