Hi All - My name is Mark and I'm the artist/designer on Sentinel Command. I appreciate the kind comments, but I wanted to clear up that at this point (launch day!) the game is NOT optimized to be playable on iPhone... I can tell you it is definitely something we've discussed : - ) so stay tuned. Thanks! It will work on on my ip6... But it's not optimised. Shinyakaisan New Member Aug 13, 2015 4 0 0 #7 Shinyakaisan, Aug 13, 2015 Problem Hello, I just boughtthe game. I am using an ipad 2 Ifi with ios 7.1.2, and the game is not working. I either get the splash screen and nothing else or the splash screen and then a grey screen. Of course I restarted the ipad many times, tried different settings. Nothing works. Is it a bug or something ? A little bit of help please. Thank you Ayjona Well-Known Member Sep 8, 2009 3,295 21 38 Freelance journalist and writer, amateur musician Stockholm, Sweden #8 Ayjona, Aug 13, 2015 Makes me want to buy it straight away out of goodwill. Great news, even if they are only implied! I (and probably quite a few strategy fans) will be eagerly awaiting any further details. darkludus Well-Known Member Feb 5, 2014 45 0 0 Indie Game Developer seattle #9 darkludus, Aug 13, 2015 Hi, dev here for Sentinel Command. We tested the game on several devices, including the iPad 2. Our iPad 2 is a MC769LL/A model running iOS 8.3. It runs fine on that device - so it's not a bug. My guess is that there are other apps in memory (there is not a lot of RAM on the iPad 2). Let me offer two suggestions: 1) Download and install the latest iOS. This probably isn't the cause, but you might as well have the same version that we tested on (or newer, even) just to be sure. 2) Before you restart the iPad, close all of the open applications. Safari and a couple other lightweight apps aren't a big deal, but if you have other games loaded I know that can cause problems on the iPad 2. This should resolve the issue for you. Thanks! John Shinyakaisan New Member Aug 13, 2015 4 0 0 #10 Shinyakaisan, Aug 13, 2015 Thanks Hi and thank you for your answer. I tried everything you said except changing the OS. I do not wish to change to OS 8. The only thing I get is a grey screen and nothing else. As you specifies that it will run on OS 7.1, do you think the only way to get it to work is changing the OS ? Thank you once more. sapphire_neo Well-Known Member Jan 20, 2011 3,934 0 0 #11 sapphire_neo, Aug 13, 2015 I would also recommend having at least 2gb space free on your device, and preferably not too many apps installed (more than 100 is probably a bad idea) darkludus Well-Known Member Feb 5, 2014 45 0 0 Indie Game Developer seattle #12 darkludus, Aug 13, 2015 I don't know if changing OS will solve it, I wanted to rule that out for troubleshooting. It shouldn't matter...all of the OS features we use are from iOS 7 (primarily sprite kit). One of our play testers had an iPad 2 also, but I checked and he was running iOS 8 as well. From what you describe, it really sounds like a memory issue. Did you try Sapphire's suggestion? Shinyakaisan New Member Aug 13, 2015 4 0 0 #13 Shinyakaisan, Aug 13, 2015 Thanks again and yes I tried Sapphire's suggestions. I have more than 8Gb free and 92 apps installed. A simple reboot of the device does the trick and purges memory. The battles are wonderfully nerve wracking. I can't help put compare it to FTL but with a small fleet instead of one ship and a little less about damaging specific battle stations and more on taking down the entire enemy fleet. One example being the enemy boosting its dodge for the next 5 turns, but AHA I threw a tractor beam on them which eliminates his dodge buff. I was then able to take him down with my other 2 ships focusing fire. There are a lot of checks and counters involved. I just can't help but feel giddy when putting all power to boosting my shields! Essentially, we are using a feature that is only available in iOS 8. If you are using iOS 7, the game will not work. I'm going to get the app store updated ASAP updating the minimum iOS requirements to iOS 8. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience to iOS 7 users who may have already purchased the game.
