Sentinel 4: Dark Star is APPROVED and launches THURSDAY 14th AUGUST! New beta screenshots here on our blog, or click the thumbnails below. Sentinel 4: Dark Star is now officially in development! I'll be keeping this thread up to date with the latest from the crew, and we'll be relying on your comments and feedback to help us make the best Sentinel game yet. For starters, check out our teaser blog post. That should be enough to get some speculation going FAQ (ongoing) Sentinel what? The Sentinel games are a hugely successful sci-fi tower defence series. Sentinel: Mars Defense started it all back in February 2009, and was followed by Sentinel 2: Earth Defense and Sentinel 3: Homeworld. Sentinel games can now be found on iOS, Android, PC and Mac. Sentinel when? Our current estimate is simply when it's done, and we'll keep you updated as we get closer to completion. Sentinel on what? Device requirements aren't yet set in stone, but we're currently targeting the iPhone 3GS up and iOS 4.3 up. Some fancier graphical effects may be reserved for higher end devices. For those of you interested in other platforms, an Android port is definitely on the cards; PC, Mac and others are under consideration. Whoops, yes, I've just updated the first post, thanks for reminding me. Obviously we've slipped from Q1 2013, so for now we're sticking with a vague "later this year" to avoid constantly chasing dates. Sentinel 4: Dark Star competition Suggest a name, win the game! Sentinel 4: Dark Star has a whole heap of new enemy critters, but while we've got their looks and in-game abilities pinned down, their names are another matter. We're turning to you, our trusty playerbase, to help us out with your suggestions. We'll pick our favourite to use in-game, and the winner will also receive a copy of the game on iOS at launch! First up, we have this energetic chap: His placeholder name is the Debilitator, which... yeah, doesn't sound great. I'm sure you can come up with something better. Take a look at his skill set for inspiration: - His special power is his lightning attack, which temporarily disables any towers it hits. Nasty. - He also has a standard melee move to deal with obstacles in his path, such as barriers or the Commander. - As befits his insubstantial look, he explodes in a shower of energy on death instead of leaving a corpse. - He'll usually (but not exclusively) be found providing support for other types of alien in a wave. There are plenty of ways to enter, so pick your favourite: - Simply post in this thread. Easy! - Comment on this post on the official Origin8 blog - Tweet your entry @Origin8 with the hashtag #Sentinel4 - Comment on this post on Facebook Make sure we'll be able to contact you in the event that you win! Entries close midnight GMT on Friday 10th January 2014. (and yes, I know I need to get a mod to update the thread title )
