MODS: I know there are a bunch of topics on the hackings, I just wanted to make sure a few people got to see the title before you merge this one, in case they're concerned about this kind of thing. Yeah, we're all bored of this. 1.29 million email addresses and birth dates given out, network down, Sega increasing security... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-13829690 Oh, and it wasn't LulzSec. They said to Sega via Twitter: "We want to help you destroy the hackers that attacked you. We love the Dreamcast, these people are going down". Which just goes to prove they have no real motive at all other than acting like whiny, childish f***tards in order to get attention.
Yep I got the email last week. This is getting stupid now. Are they trying to prove a point or what?? Or just selling the info to marketers.
ZING! I wonder why there has been such a sudden influx in videogame-related companies getting hacked all of a sudden. It's obviously not all from the same group of people, and there's no reason for it (I understand why Sony got hacked due to their treatment to geohot, but that still doesn't make hacking them right). I feel as though people are doing it for no real reason and because "hey, everyone's doing it!" I hope this ends soon.
I have an account on the Sega forums, so it does affect me. The only thing of importance that could have been stolen from me is my e-mail and password, which isn't too bad. I think that the password I use for the Sega forums is different than the one I generally use, so I should be safe. I'm not exactly in the mood to go back to every site I ever signed up for with that e-mail and changing the password on it.
